Monthly Charts force us to take a step back and give us no choice but to identify the direction of the primary trends. We use these charts to put shorter-term trends into context and this exercise is particularly useful when the market is experiencing heightened volatility. Some stocks are handling the recent selloff better than others, and one of those is Bharti Airtel which is pressing up against all-time highs. This is a massive long-term base and a move above 530 would confirm the start of a new long-term uptrend. Positive momentum and relative strength are the characteristics we look for when picking stocks, especially during environments where a lot of stocks are struggling to gain any upside traction.
