BRIAN XAUUSD – GOLD TRAPPED BELOW SELL VALUE BEFORE NFP
Gold is still moving inside a tight range, and the market is waiting for a real catalyst.
Ahead of the US NFP report, traders are not forcing strong directional positions. The US Dollar remains firm near a one-and-a-half-year high, supported by high oil prices and elevated US Treasury yields. That keeps pressure on gold because higher yields continue to reduce the appeal of holding a non-yielding asset.
So even though gold is trying to stabilize around 4,180, the recovery is still limited.
From a Volume Profile view, this is not a bullish breakout yet. This is a market trapped below higher value, with sellers still defending the upper auction.
Technical structure – Volume Profile view
On the H4 chart, gold is trading around 4,186 after consolidating inside a narrow short-term value area.
The current structure is still corrective. Price is holding above the Buy scalping zone around 4,111, but it has not reclaimed any strong upside value yet. This means buyers are reacting from the lower area, but they have not taken control of the full auction.
The nearest upside liquidity sits around 4,278. If gold can break above the current range and accept above 4,200, this liquidity zone may become the next short-term target.
However, the stronger seller areas are much higher. The Sellzone around 4,406 is the next major reaction area, while the large Sell POC zone near 4,590 - 4,620 remains the main higher-timeframe seller control zone.
Below the market, 4,111 remains the key buy scalping level. If gold loses this zone, the next deeper reference is the lowest bottom area in September around 3,962.
Important Volume Profile zones
Current price area: 4,175 - 4,190
Gold is consolidating inside a short-term value pocket before NFP.
Buy scalping zone: 4,111
Main lower reaction area. Buyers need to defend this zone to keep the recovery structure alive.
Sellside liquidity: 4,278
First upside liquidity area if gold breaks above the current range.
Sellzone: 4,406
Major seller reaction zone if recovery expands.
Sell POC: 4,590 - 4,620
Higher value resistance and major seller control area.
September low area: 3,962
Deep downside reference if 4,111 fails and bearish pressure expands.
Trading scenario
Priority view: wait for confirmation around current value
Buy scenario:
Entry:
Look for buy positions only if gold holds above 4,160 - 4,180 and shows clear bullish rejection from the current value area.
Stop Loss:
Below the local sweep low or below the failed value structure.
Take Profit:
TP1: 4,200
TP2: 4,278
TP3: 4,406 only if gold breaks and accepts above 4,278
This setup follows the short-term recovery structure, but confirmation is required because price is still trading below stronger resistance.
Sell scenario:
Entry:
Look for sell positions if gold rejects around 4,200 - 4,278, or if price loses 4,111 and cannot reclaim it.
Stop Loss:
Above the rejection high or above the reclaimed value zone.
Take Profit:
TP1: 4,111
TP2: 4,050
TP3: 3,962 if bearish momentum expands after NFP
This setup follows the broader bearish value structure. As long as gold remains below higher value, sellers can still control the auction.
Final view
Gold is not showing a clean bullish reversal yet.
The market is holding a short-term base, but the stronger value zones remain above price. Before NFP, this type of structure can create fake moves on both sides, so the key is acceptance, not the first candle reaction.
My map is simple:
Hold 4,160 - 4,180 = buyers can keep recovery alive.
Break 4,200 = short-term momentum improves.
Break 4,278 = upside opens toward 4,406.
Reject 4,278 = sellers may return.
Lose 4,111 = deeper bearish rotation can continue.
Gold is currently in a pre-NFP decision range.
Will buyers defend lower value and push price into 4,278, or will sellers keep control and force another rotation back toward 4,111?
