STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex SENSEX fell 167.41 points, or 0.28%, to 59,938.09, while the broader NSE index NIFTY lost 16.8 points, or 0.09%, to 17,878.9, as investors waited for domestic and U.S. inflation data that could provide cues on the central banks' rate hike path.
RUPEE:
The Indian rupee USDINR weakened 0.11% versus the U.S. dollar, and quoted at 81.68 per dollar, pulling back from more-than-one-month highs ahead of the all-important U.S. inflation data.
GOVERNMENT BONDS:
The benchmark 10-year bond (IN072632G=CC) was quoted at 99.78 rupees, with the yield unchanged at 7.2914%, ahead of U.S. and Indian inflation data that is expected to provide cues on the central banks' rate-hike trajectory.
OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate (INRAMONMI1Y=) was down 3 bps at 6.59%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate (INRSMONMI5Y=) fell 4 bps to 6.24%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money (INROND=) rate was down 5 bps at 6.00%. The overnight TREPS rate (INTREPTOT=TCCL) was at 5.97%, compared with the previous day's weighted average of 5.9712%.
