Sensex Extends Gains

The BSE Sensex gained 213.8 points or 0.4% to a two-week high of 60,869.5 in early deals on Wednesday, extending gains from the previous session, boosted by foreign investors turning net buyers of Indian equities after offloading funds in their longest selling streak in six months.

Asian markets were mixed after the Bank of Japan decided to keep its yield policy unchanged.

In the US, Wall Street ended mixed with the Nasdaq rising, while the S&P 500 and the Dow closed lower.

Domestically, data from the NSE showed foreign institutional investors turned net buyers after selling for 18 straight sessions, purchasing INR 2.11 billion on Tuesday, while domestic institutional investor net purchased shares INR 0.91 billion.

Almost all sectors were trading in the green, supported by the metal index, financial services, IT, and pharmaceuticals.

Shares of Tata Steel rose (2.3%), as did Hindalco (1.9%), Wipro (1.4%), HDFC Bank (1.3%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.2%).
