I like what you did here, and it was beautiful, but you used the prior day high in case of gap down!
I think it better to take the previous day low!

or if you can use the equation that been used in IBD, it would be great.
for gap down: range = (Close - low) / (previous day's close - low).

and for the gap up: range = (close - previous day's close) / (high - previous day's high)
