ครึ่งแรกของคลื่น Elliott คือ Motive Wave คลื่นที่เคลื่อนไหวไปตามเทรนแนวโน้มใหญ่
โดยแบ่งออกเป็นคลื่นเล็กๆ อีก 5 คลื่นย่อย (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) ตามที่แสดงในกราฟด้านบน
และภายใน Motive Wave จะมีคลื่นย่อยขนาดเล็กอีก 2 ประเภท คือ Impulse Wave, Diagonal Wave
โดยแบ่งออกเป็นคลื่นเล็กๆ อีก 5 คลื่นย่อย (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) ตามที่แสดงในกราฟด้านบน
