Trump and Vance Signal Openness to China Talks

Less than 1 min read

President Donald Trump’s administration on Sunday signaled openness to a trade deal with China amid rising tensions, while criticizing Beijing’s new export controls as a major obstacle.

Vice-President J.D. Vance urged China to “choose the path of reason,” asserting Trump holds more leverage if the dispute continues.

Trump posted on Truth Social, offering a conciliatory tone toward President Xi Jinping: “Don’t worry about China, it will all be fine! Highly respected President Xi just had a bad moment.

He doesn’t want Depression for his country, and neither do I. The U.S.A. wants to help China, not hurt it!!!”.

Vance emphasized the importance of China’s response: “If they respond in a highly aggressive manner… the president of the United States has far more cards… If, however, they’re willing to be reasonable,” the U.S. would reciprocate.
