Trend Break Target

2 114

The Trend Break Target indicator helps traders identify and trade potential breakout opportunities with precision. It offers the following key benefits:

Customizable Trend Anchors

Allows traders to set specific start and end dates for the trendline, ensuring analysis is aligned with chosen time windows.

Supports different price sources (High, Low, Close) to fit diverse trading styles.

Automatic Trendline Projection

Dynamically plots a trendline between selected anchor points and extends it forward, providing a clear visual guide for future price interactions.

Breakout Detection

Instantly detects when price breaks above or below the trendline.

Plots breakout markers (▲ / ▼) directly on the chart to highlight actionable trade signals.

Pivot-Based Target Calculation

Uses the nearest valid pivot high/low before the breakout (or a fallback lookback if unavailable).

Measures the distance between the pivot and the trendline, then projects a target price in the breakout direction.

Clear Visual Targets

Draws a dotted target line to show where price may reach after the breakout.

Adds a connector line from breakout to target and a measurement line from pivot to trendline, improving clarity of the setup.

Automatic Reset & Efficiency

Resets calculations when new anchors are applied, keeping charts clean and reducing noise.

Deletes old lines and labels automatically to optimize chart readability.

Strategic Trade Planning

Helps traders quickly identify risk-reward opportunities by visualizing breakout levels and price targets.

Useful for trend continuation as well as reversal trading strategies.

👉 In short, the FTBT indicator provides a structured way to analyse trendlines, confirm breakouts, and project realistic price targets—making it a powerful tool for both discretionary and systematic traders.
Release Notes
This indicator is based on classic technical analysis principles:
Drawing a trend line between two key points to represent dynamic support or resistance.
A breakout occurs when the price closes above or below this line, potentially signaling a change in trend.
The price target is calculated by measuring the distance between the breakout line and the last high/low (pivot), then projecting the same distance in the direction of the breakout.
This concept is based on methods explained in classic books such as:
Edwards & Magee - Technical Analysis of Stock Trends,
John Murphy - Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets,
and also in Thomas Bulkowski's Price Pattern Studies.

Update : Lines and labels have been simplified for easy reading.

Update:

This update introduces significant enhancements to our trading indicator, aiming to provide traders with clearer entry points and potential profit targets.
Key Enhancements:

Extended Profit Targets (TP): Added Target 2 and Target 3 to offer a more comprehensive view of potential price extensions beyond the primary target.

Change of Character (CHoCH) Integration: The indicator now utilizes the Change of Character (CHoCH) concept to automatically define the critical anchor points for analysis, making it easier for traders to identify the structure shift.

How the New Feature Works :

Anchor Point Definition based on CHoCH:

Point 1 (Red Point): Automatically set at the highest previous peak prior to the detected CHoCH (representing the structural high).

Point 2 (Green Point): Automatically set at the peak preceding the CHoCH shift (representing the last significant swing before the change).

Target Calculation: The indicator calculates potential price targets based on these anchor points:

Primary Target (TP1): A foundational, high-probability target based on classical analysis principles.

Secondary and Tertiary Targets (TP2 & TP3): These are calculated based on potential extensions. Note: Since TP2 and TP3 are less confirmed and represent extended movements, we have made their visibility optional via an indicator setting to keep the chart clean for conservative traders.

Performance Highlight:

As demonstrated in the attached images ,
the price initially reached the Primary Target (TP1) and subsequently continued its movement to successfully achieve both the Secondary (TP2) and Tertiary (TP3) targets, confirming the indicator's extended target accuracy in this instance.

Update:
The second and third targets have been fixed.

Key Features & Performance Upgrades
Full Visual Customization: You now have complete control over the indicator's appearance. We have enabled fully adjustable color settings, allowing you to easily switch between Light and Dark themes. Additionally, the settings menu has been reorganized to be cleaner and more intuitive.

High-Performance Rendering: The method used to draw trendlines has been significantly optimized. This upgrade drastically reduces chart lag and ensures the indicator operates smoothly, even during fast market movement.

Smart Resource Management: We implemented an efficient data management system that automatically handles historical information. This ensures the tool maintains peak performance over long timeframes without hitting platform limitations.

Enhanced Stability: Advanced safeguards have been added to the calculation logic. These improvements prevent crashes and ensure the indicator remains reliable and accurate, even before all market data is fully loaded.
