5-Minute YEN Pivot Bars 1.0The 5-Minute YEN Pivot Bars indicator is designed to identify and highlight low-range pivot bars on 5-minute charts, specifically tailored for Yen-based pairs (e.g., GBPJPY, USDJPY). By focusing on precise pip thresholds, this tool helps traders detect potential pivot points within specific trading sessions, while avoiding inside bars and other noise often seen in low-volatility conditions. This can be particularly useful for trend traders and those looking to refine their entry points based on intraday reversals.
Key Features:
- Customized Pip Thresholds for Yen Pairs:
The indicator is pre-configured for Yen pairs, where 1 pip is typically represented by 0.01. It applies these thresholds:
- Limited Range: 4 pips or less between open and close prices.
- High/Low Directionality: At least 3 pips from the close/open to the bar's high or low.
- Open/Close Proximity: 4 pips or less between open and close.
- Inside Bar Tolerance: A tolerance of 3 pips for inside bars, helping reduce false signals from bars contained within the previous bar's range.
- Session-Specific Alerts:
- The indicator allows you to enable alerts for the European Session (6:00-12:00), American Session (12:00-17:00), and London Close (17:00-20:00). You can adjust these times based on your own trading hours or timezone preferences via a time-shift setting.
- Receive real-time alerts when a valid bullish or bearish pivot bar is identified within the chosen sessions, allowing you to respond to potential trade opportunities immediately.
- Time Shift Customization:
- Adjust the "Time Shift" parameter to account for different time zones, ensuring accurate session alignment regardless of your local time.
How It Works:
1. Pivot Bar Identification:
The indicator scans for bars where the difference between the open and close is within the "Limited Range" threshold, and both open and close prices are close to either the high or the low of the bar.
2. Directional Filtering:
It requires the bar to show strong directional bias by enforcing an additional distance between the open/close levels and the opposite end of the bar (high/low). Only bars with this directional structure are considered for highlighting.
3. Exclusion of Inside Bars:
Bars that are completely contained within the range of the previous bar are excluded (inside bars), as are consecutive inside bars. This filtering is essential to avoid marking bars that typically indicate consolidation rather than potential pivot points.
4. Session Alerts:
When a valid pivot bar appears within the selected sessions, an alert is triggered, notifying the trader of a potential trading signal. Bullish and bearish signals are differentiated based on whether the close is near the high or low.
How to Use:
- Trend Reversals: Use this indicator to spot potential trend reversals or pullbacks on a 5-minute chart, especially within key trading sessions.
- Entry and Exit Points: Highlighted bars can serve as potential entry points for traders looking to capitalize on short-term directional changes or continuation patterns.
- Combine with Other Indicators: Consider pairing this tool with momentum indicators or trendlines to confirm the signals, providing a comprehensive analysis framework.
Default Parameters:
- Limited Range: 4 Pips
- High/Low Directionality: 3 Pips
- Open/Close Proximity: 4 Pips
- Inside Bar Tolerance: 3 Pips
- Session Alerts: Enabled for European, American, and London Close sessions
- Time Shift: Default 6 (adjustable to align with different time zones)
This indicator is specifically optimized for Yen pairs on 5-minute charts due to its pip calculation.

Negative Correlation SignalsThank you to Hendrik Fuchs who coded this for me - I highly recommend you...
The AUDUSD/EURUSD has a negative correlation with the DXY as does the GBPJPY/USDJPY have with the JPYX. This indicator is very simple and uses opposite candle pinbars (pinbar/doji structure can be set by you) of the two instruments on the chart whilst the stochastic RSI should be above 80 for overbought on the one but below 20 on the other for oversold (or vice versa) to generate a signal.
This indicator works as follow:
1. Choose an instrument that has an opposing negatively correlated instrument (EURUSD & DXY, GBPJPY & JPYX, US100 & VIX, etc.)
2. Add indicator to the chart and open settings.
3. Open the settings and add the correct instruments (default is set to GBPJPY & JPYX).
4. Enter your desired Stochastic RSI & candle formation settings.
You will see buy and sell signals appear on the charts. Alerts are possible (Any alert() function call). Does not repaint after close of candle. Better on higher timeframes but can also be used for scalping. Best used as confluence or as part of a trend trading system.
There are obviously many many variations that I have not even thought off - please let us know in the comment section if you find settings/timeframes/instruments that work particularly well.
Parabolic SAR Swing strategy GBP JPY Daily timeframeToday I bring you a new strategy thats made of parabolic sar. It has optmized values for GBPJPY Daily timeframe chart.
It also has a time period selection, in order to see how it behave between selected years.
The strategy behind it is simple :
We have an uptrend , (the psar is below our candles) we go long. We exit when our candle crosses the psar value.
The same applies for downtrend(the psar is above our candles), where we go short. We exit when our candle cross the psar value.
Among the basic indicators, it looks like PSAR is one of the best canditates for swing trading.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
GBPIndexGBP Index based on a basket of the following currencies
EURGBP, 49%
GBPUSD, 18%
GBPJPY, 3.4%
GBPCNH, 9.0%
GBPCHF, 3.2%
GBPCAD, 1.4%
GBPAUD, 1.4%
Use this index with a moving average to determine when to go long or short on GBP pairs, except for EURGBP. If index above Moving Average you have the green light to open Long positions. If below Moving Average you have green light to open Short positions.
For EURGBP you would open Long if index is below moving average and open Short when index is above moving average
GBPNZD ROC RF count strategyCode takes six pairs that are highly correlated to GBPNZD and determines if their ROC's are increasing or decreasing. If a pair has an increasing ROC it is given a 1, if decreasing a -1. The numbers are all added up (this is similar to a count for counting cards in blackjack). If the count goes positive the strategy enters a long position, if negative a short position.
Code is tuned for GBPNZD for 1HR chart. Returns $97 on an initial balance of $100 (if I am reading Tradingview Tester correctly)
*** Should work for GBPJPY, its has the same correlated pairs
Comments welcomed
JPY GBP ROCsRate of change of most volatile JPY and GBP pairs. All pairs ending in JPY are red except GBPJPY (colored yellow --currently most volatile 7/2016). GBPNZD is blue, the other GBP pairs are green, lime and teal. GBPJPY and GBPNZD are my favorite day trading / swing trading pairs. This script allows me to see the action of the most volatile and liquid pairs on one screen. JPY pairs (ex-GBPJPY) are all red so that I see the flow of JPY not so much each pair and its name. Global movement of JPY is what I am after. Same for the coloring of GBP pairs as green expect GBPNZD as blue. ***** EURGBP is plotted as an opposite (with a negative in front of its sma. EURGBP is extremely correlated to GBPNZD, I decided to plot it also.
Pairs Volume FXCM mini accountScript shows the volume of the currency pairs in the FXCM mini account. I set it daily or weekly to see which pair is picking up in activity. My style of currency trading is short holds on the highest volatility. This helps me determine which pairs have the highest volume (or tick activity since there is no true exchange for currency). I use this in conjunction with the other script I wrote, "Pairs Range" which shows which pairs have the highest daily range. This script has a built in 5-sma on each pair. High daily range and high volume is volatility and liquidity. **** This does not include currencies in CHF ****
Currency Pairs High Low RangeIndicator gives the High-Low range of 18 currency pairs. There is a High Ave which is the average of the top four (you may need to adjust which ones are in the average) as well as the bottom four Low Ave. The picture is of a weekly chart with the indicator set at 12 week average of the High-Low range with a .7 (70%) multiplier. When I am looking for week long trades with lots of movement I pick my pairs based on the most actives with a 70% capture of the range as a guide line of when to exit. Sometime when I am not in the mood for volatility I go with the ones in the Low Ave area. Further, when I day trade I set the indicator to a 1Day chart and move the percent to 20% or 30% as a guideline to tell when to get out of a trade.
