Percentage Based ZigZag█ OVERVIEW
The Percentage-Based ZigZag indicator is a custom technical analysis tool designed to highlight significant price reversals while filtering out market noise. Unlike many standard zigzag tools that rely solely on fixed price moves or generic trend-following methods, this indicator uses a configurable percentage threshold to dynamically determine meaningful pivot points. This approach not only adapts to different market conditions but also helps traders distinguish between minor fluctuations and truly significant trend shifts—whether scalping on shorter timeframes or analyzing longer-term trends.
█ KEY FEATURES & ORIGINALITY
Dynamic Pivot Detection
The indicator identifies pivot points by measuring the percentage change from the previous extreme (high or low). Only when this change exceeds a user-defined threshold is a new pivot recognized. This method ensures that only substantial moves are considered, making the indicator robust in volatile or noisy markets.
Enhanced ZigZag Visualization
By connecting significant highs and lows with a continuous line, the indicator creates a clear visual map of price swings. Each pivot point is labelled with the corresponding price and the percentage change from the previous pivot, providing immediate quantitative insight into the magnitude of the move.
Trend Reversal Projections
In addition to marking completed reversals, the script computes and displays potential future reversal points based on the current trend’s momentum. This forecasting element gives traders an advanced look at possible turning points, which can be particularly useful for short-term scalping strategies.
Customizable Visual Settings
Users can tailor the appearance by:
• Setting the percentage threshold to control sensitivity.
• Customizing colors for bullish (e.g., green) and bearish (e.g., red) reversals.
• Enabling optional background color changes that visually indicate the prevailing trend.
█ UNDERLYING METHODOLOGY & CALCULATIONS
Percentage-Based Filtering
The script continuously monitors price action and calculates the relative percentage change from the last identified pivot. A new pivot is confirmed only when the price moves a preset percentage away from this pivot, ensuring that minor fluctuations do not trigger false signals.
Pivot Point Logic
The indicator tracks the highest high and the lowest low since the last pivot. When the price reverses by the required percentage from these extremes, the algorithm:
1 — Labels the point as a significant high or low.
2 — Draws a connecting line from the previous pivot to the current one.
3 — Resets the extreme-tracking for detecting the next move.
Real-Time Reversal Estimation
Building on traditional zigzag methods, the script incorporates a projection calculation. By analyzing the current trend’s strength and recent percentage moves, it estimates where a future reversal might occur, offering traders actionable foresight.
█ HOW TO USE THE INDICATOR
1 — Apply the Indicator
• Add the Percentage-Based ZigZag indicator to your trading chart.
2 — Adjust Settings for Your Market
• Percentage Move – Set a threshold that matches your trading style:
- Lower values for sensitive, high-frequency analysis (ideal for scalping).
- Higher values for filtering out noise on longer timeframes.
• Visual Customization – Choose your preferred colors for bullish and bearish signals and enable background color changes for visual trend cues.
• Reversal Projection – Enable or disable the projection feature to display potential upcoming reversal points.
3 — Interpret the Signals
• ZigZag Lines – White lines trace significant high-to-low or low-to-high movements, visually connecting key swing points.
• Pivot Labels – Each pivot is annotated with the exact price level and percentage change, providing quantitative insight into market momentum.
• Trend Projections – When enabled, projected reversal levels offer insight into where the current trend might change.
4 — Integrate with Your Trading Strategy
• Use the indicator to identify support and resistance zones derived from significant pivots.
• Combine the quantitative data (percentage changes) with your risk management strategy to set optimal stop-loss and take-profit levels.
• Experiment with different threshold settings to adapt the indicator for various instruments or market conditions.
█ CONCLUSION
The Percentage-Based ZigZag indicator goes beyond traditional trend-following tools by filtering out market noise and providing clear, quantifiable insights into price action. With its percentage threshold for pivot detection and real-time reversal projections, this original methodology and customizable feature set offer traders a versatile edge for making informed trading decisions.

Trend/Retracement - ZigZag - New wayZigZag for Trend and Retracements - New way
It's another way to plot ZigZag based on lookback period for trend and % of trend lookback period to plot retracements.
█ OVERVIEW
Plot ZigZag, Trend lines, Retracements, Support levels, Resistance levels
█ Objective:
Draw ZigZag lines along with unbroken support and resistance levels. ZigZag lines are drawn for main trend and the retracements.
Main Trend – This is calculated based on lookback period.
Retracements – Retracements are calculated as 25% of main trend.
Support and Resistance line: The indicator draws 2 types of support and resistance lines
1. Un-broken – Once formed (plotted), these are the support and resistance which are not yet broken
2. Tested – One can also choose to see support and resistance lines which are tested but not broken. Tested support/resistance are those levels which are touched by high/low price but close price has not crossed the level.
█ How main trend point is calculated:
E.g.
Chart timeframe = 15m
Lookback period = 250
Retracement = 25% of main trend ( 25% of 250 = 62 )
A price point on a chart is considered as trend point if distance between current price and previous highest price is 250 candles
A price point is considered as a retracement if distance between current price and previous highest price is 62 candles. Please note retracements are calculated only after finding a main trend point.
█ Input parameters:
Zigzag Parameters
Use predefined Lookback – If checked pre-defined timeframe-based lookback parameters are used.
Trend lookback candles – If ‘Use predefined Lookback’ is unchecked then this value is used as lookback period.
Retracement % of look back candles– If ‘Use predefined Lookback’ is unchecked then this value is used for calculating retracement lookback period
Mark retracements – If unchecked only main trend lines are plotted
Plot support/resistance – To plot support/resistance levels
Show support/resistance tested lines – If checked tested support/resistance liens are shown on the chart
█ TF based Lookback period config (Defaults are set as specified below, One can change these defaults to use different lookback periods)
The defaults set here are used based on the chart timeframe. e.g. if chart timeframe is changed from say 15m to 60m then 60m chart defaults (i.e. trend lookback = 90) are used to plot the trend and the retracements. At the bottom-right of the chart, parameters used for plotting are displayed all the time.
Timeframe in minute – Default = 5m
Trend lookback candles – Default = 375 (~ 5 days of data)
Timeframe in minute – Default = 15m
Trend lookback candles – Default = 250 (~10 days of data)
Timeframe in minute – Default = 60m
Trend lookback candles = Default = 90 (~ 15 days of data)
Trend lookback candles for timeframe 'D' – Default = 30 (~1 month data)
Trend lookback candles for timeframe 'W' – Default = 21 (~6 months data)
Trend lookback candles for timeframe 'M' – Default = 12 (~1year data)
Retracement % of look back candles – Default = 25%
█ When and where one can use this indicator (Refer to chart examples)
To view support and resistance based on lookback period
To view ZigZag lines
One can use it to find chart patterns easily
Trend and retracement lines can help in drawing Elliott waves.
█ Chart examples:
1. Chart patterns can be easily identified - One can disable the candle charts which will help to identify and draw chart patterns easily
2. Trend and retracement lines can also help is analyzing charts (e.g. Elliott Waves can be marked based on trend lines)
3. Tested but not broken support and resistance lines can be viewed
4. You can select 'NOT' to plot tested support and resistance lines
5. Uncheck the Mark retracements to plot main trend lines (Retracements are not marked)
Market Structures + ZigZag [TradingFinder] CHoCH/BOS - MSS/MSB🟣 Introduction
🔵 Market Structure
Grasping market structure entails examining market behavior. Essentially, market structure refers to the formation and progression of the market within its trends.
Market structures are generally fractal and nested, leading us to classify them into internal (minor) and external (major) structures. There are several definitions of market structure, with differing perspectives such as Smart Money and ICT offering their own interpretations.
🔵 Zig Zag
The Zigzag indicator is a lagging tool that identifies points on a price chart where significant changes occur compared to the previous wave. By connecting these points, it helps traders detect trends.
This indicator minimizes random price fluctuations, aiming to clarify the primary price trend.
Pivots are points on a price chart where the direction changes. Also known as reversal points, pivots form when supply and demand forces overpower one another.
There are various types of technical analysis pivots, which can be divided into two categories: minor pivots and major pivots, each with distinct significance in analysis.
Major Pivot : These pivots signify substantial changes in the chart's direction and occur at the end of trends. Analysts focusing on primary analysis prioritize major pivot points. In fact, most technical analysis tools are evaluated and based on major pivots.
Minor Pivot : These pivots highlight smaller, subsidiary points and directions, appearing at the end of corrections. Analysts who focus on minor pivots represent small trends. It's important to note that minor pivots are not suitable for use in primary technical tools.
Identifying Minor and Major Pivots :
Minor pivots are formed between two major pivots and do not break the opposing major pivot. (Internal Pivot)
Major pivots are those that either successfully break the opposing pivot or move beyond the previous pivot of the same type. (External Pivot)
🟣 How to Use
🔵 Identifying Break of Structure (BOS)
In a given trend, such as a downtrend, a Break of Structure occurs when the price drops below the previous low and forms a new low (LL). In an uptrend, a BOS (MSB) happens when the price rises and exceeds the last high.
To confirm a trend, at least one BOS is required. The break above or below the previous high or low must be validated by the closing of at least one candle beyond that level.
🔵 Identifying Change of Character (CHOCH)
Change of Character (CHOCH) is an essential concept in market structure analysis, indicating a trend change. In other words, a trend concludes with a CHOCH (MSS). For example, in a downtrend, the price declines with BOS.
While BOS highlights the trend's strength, a CHOCH occurs when the price rises and surpasses the last high, signaling a transition from a downtrend to an uptrend.
This does not imply immediately entering a buy trade; instead, it is prudent to wait for a BOS in the upward direction to confirm the uptrend.
Unlike BOS, confirming a CHOCH does not require a candle to close; simply breaking above or below the previous high or low with the candle's wick is sufficient. The following examples illustrate bearish and bullish CHOCH.
Terms :
Market Structure Shift = MSS
Market Structure Break = MSB

ZigZag█ OVERVIEW
This library is a Pine Script™ programmer’s tool containing custom user-defined types and functions to calculate Zig Zag indicators within their scripts. It is not a stand-alone indicator.
Pine Script™ libraries are publications that contain reusable code for importing into Pine Script™ indicators, strategies, and other libraries. For more information on libraries and incorporating them into your scripts, see the Libraries section of the Pine Script™ User Manual .
█ CONCEPTS
Zig Zag
Zig Zag is a popular indicator that filters out minor price fluctuations to denoise data and emphasize trends. Traders commonly use Zig Zag for trend confirmation, identifying potential support and resistance, and pattern detection. It is formed by identifying significant local high and low points in alternating order and connecting them with straight lines, omitting all other data points from their output. There are several ways to calculate the Zig Zag's data points and the conditions by which its direction changes. This script uses pivots as the data points, which are the highest or lowest values over a defined number of bars before and after them. The direction only reverses when a newly formed pivot deviates from the last Zig Zag point in the opposite direction by an amount greater than or equal to a specified percentage.
To learn more about Zig Zag and how to calculate it, see this entry from the Help Center.
█ FOR Pine Script™ CODERS
Notes
This script's architecture utilizes user-defined types (UDTs) to create custom objects which are the equivalent of variables containing multiple parts, each able to hold independent values of different types . UDTs are the newest addition to Pine Script™ and the most advanced feature the language has seen to date. The feature's introduction creates a new runway for experienced coders to push the boundaries of Pine. We recommend that newcomers to the language explore the basics first before diving into UDTs and objects.
Demonstration Code
Our example code shows a simple use case by displaying a Zig Zag with user-defined settings. A new ZigZag object is instantiated on the first bar using a Settings object to control its attributes. The fields for the Settings object are declared using variables assigned to input.* functions, allowing control of the field values from the script's settings. The `update()` function is invoked on each bar to update the ZigZag object's fields and create new lines and labels when required.
Look first. Then leap.

The Next Pivot [Kioseff Trading]Hello!
This script "The Next Pivot" uses various similarity measures to compare historical price sequences to the current price sequence!
Features
Find the most similar price sequence up to 100 bars from the current bar
Forecast price path up to 250 bars
Forecast ZigZag up to 250 bars
Spearmen
Pearson
Absolute Difference
Cosine Similarity
Mean Squared Error
Kendall
Forecasted linear regression channel
The image above shows/explains some of the indicator's capabilities!
The image above highlights the projected zig zag (pivots) pattern!
Colors are customizable (:
Additionally, you can plot a forecasted LinReg channel.
Should load times permit it, the script can search all bar history for a correlating sequence. This won't always be possible, contingent on the forecast length, correlation length, and the number of bars on the chart.
Reasonable Assessment
The script uses various similarity measures to find the "most similar" price sequence to what's currently happening. Once found, the subsequent price move (to the most similar sequence) is recorded and projected forward.
So,
1: Script finds most similar price sequence
2: Script takes what happened after and projects forward
While this may be useful, the projection is simply the reaction to a possible one-off "similarity" to what's currently happening. Random fluctuations are likely and, if occurring, similarities between the current price sequence and the "most similar" sequence are plausibly coincidental.
That said, if you have any ideas on cool features to add please let me know!
Thank you (:

Bullish Volume AnomalyAnomaly is designed to spot hidden bullish accumulation before price actually breaks out, by blending a trend-aware volume measure with a volatility-adjusted price channel. Here’s how it works:
First, it runs a simple ATR-based zigzag to identify the current swing direction. Volume is then signed (+ for up-trends, – for down-trends) and cumulatively summed. By converting that cumulative signed volume into a z-score over the past 480 bars, we get a sense of when buying or selling pressure is unusually strong relative to its own history.
At the same time, price itself is normalized into a z-score over the same 480-bar window, and its change over that period is also tracked. These two measures—volume z-score (s) and price z-score (p)—are compared, and the indicator looks for moments when s outpaces p by at least two standard deviations (s – p > 2), while price momentum change remains low (c < 1) and the net volume is positive (s > 0). That combination flags instances where heavy buying is taking place but price hasn’t yet reacted.
To define a dynamic trading zone, it plots a 288-bar EMA of price as the middle band (t2), and builds upper and lower bands around it using the average close-to-open range multiplied by a user-set factor. The lower band (t1) sits beneath the EMA by that volatility-based margin. A signal fires only when the bar’s high stays below t1—meaning price is still “sleeping” under the lower volatility boundary even as bullish volume builds up.
Together, these filters home in on anomalies: strong, trend-aligned volume surges that outstrip price movement, occurring while price sits below its lower volatility band.
