Ever been part of a joke that went a little too far? The open source nature of blockchain technology may mean openness and innovation. But it also means that anyone can create a crypto in the space of a few hours that could semi-accidentally balloon into a multi-million dollar enterprise. Or a scam. Dogecoin and Shiba Inu have broken out, but there's plenty of bizarre (largely dog-based) coins out there to choose from.

The list below includes coins and tokens that grew more out of meme-status than having a use-basis.
