How to install and update Desktop app on Linux

This article covers installing and updating procedures for the TradingView Desktop app on Linux. We provide two installation options: debian package and snap package. If you want to learn more about snap and debian packages, you can do so by following this link

These instructions apply to 64-bit Debian-based Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Mint, etc.

Installation

Debian package
  • Open tradingview.com/desktop in your browser and download the Debian package;
  • Double-click the Debian package to start the installation process.

If something went wrong, you can try installing the debian package through the terminal. Follow these steps:

  • Install our official public software signing key:
wget -O - https://tvd-packages.tradingview.com/keyring.gpg | sudo tee /usr/share/keyrings/tradingview-desktop-archive-keyring.gpg >/dev/null
  • Add our repository to your list of repositories:
echo "deb [arch=amd64 signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/tradingview-desktop-archive-keyring.gpg] https://tvd-packages.tradingview.com/ubuntu/stable jammy multiverse" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/tradingview-desktop.list >/dev/null
  • Update your package database:
sudo apt update
  • Install TradingView Desktop:
sudo apt install tradingview
Snap package

Or do it through the terminal:

  • Make sure that the snap daemon (snapd) is installed. Learn if snapd is pre-installed on your system or obtain instructions on how to install snapd for various distributions here.
  • Install the Snap package:
sudo snap install tradingview

Update

Debian package

If the TradingView Desktop app hasn’t updated after running these commands, remove the app and install it through the terminal as described in the Installation section.
