About Ecuador Inflation Rate YoY
In Ecuador, the main components of the consumer price index are: Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (25 percent of the total weight); Transport (14 percent); Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels (10 percent) and Clothing and Footwear (9 percent). Restaurants and Hotels account for 7 percent; Education for 7 percent; Furniture and Household Equipment for 6 percent and Health Care for 6 percent. Others include: Leisure and Culture (5.9 percent); Other Goods and Services (5.2 percent); Communications (4.4 percent) and Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Narcotics (1 percent). The national index has a base of 100 as of 2004. The CPI reflects the prices and spending patterns registered in eight representative cities: Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca, Machala, Esmeraldas, Manta, Ambato and Loja, which account for 67.44 percent of the urban population of the country.
