The fund is an index-tracking ETF that holds a broad range of debt securities that are rated investment grade. Securities are primarily issued by government and corporate entities in Canada, selected by their market value. The index also includes global issued bonds as well as private placements whose country of risk/incorporation are in Canada. Canadian-dollar-denominated issues of foreign issuers, which are called maple bonds, are not considered for the selection. The index is market-value weighted and is rebalanced monthly. Prior to February 29, 2012, the fund tracked the FTSE Canada Universe Bond Index.
