The fund tracks a liquid, broad index that index includes up to 25 commodity futures contracts in the agriculture, energy, livestock, and metals sectors. The broad basket commodity ETN tracks an index with varying contract lengths and roll schedules. The index attempts to embody four main principles in its construction: economic significance, diversification, continuity, and liquidity. Using these metrics, the index attempts to create a fair representation of each commoditys importance to the world economy and to filter out unwarranted weightings for commodities. Holdings are adjusted for diversification. Futures positions are weighted two-thirds trading volume and one-third by world production. The index rebalances each January with weight-caps applied at the sector level. Contract tenor selection is determined by a set roll schedule that varies by commodity.
