Carborundum Universal Ltd. engages in the manufacture and sale of abrasives, ceramics, and electro minerals. It operates through the following segments: Abrasives, Ceramics, Electrominerals, Power, and IT Services. The Abrasive segment comprises of bonded, coated, processed cloth, polymers, power tools, and coolants. The Ceramics segment consists of super refractories, industrial ceramics, bio ceramics, ceramic fiber products, anti-corrosives, and calcia stabilized zirconia. The Electrominerals segment includes refractory grains, micro grits for the photovoltaic industry and captive power generation from hydel power plant. The Power segment engages in the generation of power from natural gas. The IT Services segment offers IT infrastructure facility management services; software application development services; remote infrastructure management services; and IT security management services. The company was founded on April 21, 1954 and is headquartered in Chennai, India.
