The fund aims for exposure to North American companies and monthly distributions of dividend and call option income. Its equal-weighted portfolio is composed of equity and equity-related securities of companies that are primarily involved in gold mining and exploration. There are also amongst the largest and most liquid issuers in their sector. In order to mitigate risks and generate income, the fund will generally write covered call options on 100% of the portfolios securities and may vary based on market volatility and other factors. Foreign currency gains or losses as a result of Horizons HEPs investment in non-Canadian issuers will be hedged back to the CAD to the best of its ability.
