The fund seeks to earn income while preserving capital through an actively-managed portfolio of primarily investment-grade Canadian corporate bonds. The funds selection universe of such issues is formed using fundamental credit research and quantitative screens by the portfolio manager. Such universe are divided into five term groupings of bonds maturing from 0-1.49 years, 1.5-2.49 years, 2.5-3.49 years, 3.5-4.49 years, and 4.5-5.5 years. Bonds are selected for each term grouping by yield, and are equally weighted within their respective group. Each group occupies 20% weight in the portfolio, and bonds remain in their group until the next quarterly reconstitution. High-yield issues may also have portion in the term grouping provided that each group continues to represent 20% weight in the portfolio. From time to time, TCSB may also invest in foreign securities but will not typically exceed 25% of its assets.
