TradingView Masterclass: How To Use The Top ToolbarIn this guide, you’ll learn about all the different tools that are available to you on the chart. Specifically, we’ll be looking at the toolbars that are located at the top, bottom, left and right of the chart:
To summarize the chart above, the breakdown looks like this:
■ Top toolbar: Chart tools
■ Left-side toolbar: Drawing tools
■ Right-side toolbar: Community tools
■ Bottom toolbar: Advanced tools
Now, let’s dive into each one starting with the top toolbar where you’ll find many of the most important chart tools for all your research needs. Keep in mind that we’ve ordered each item below as if we are moving from the furthest point at the top left to the furthest point to the top right. Let’s begin!
⦿ Symbol Search (Keyboard shortcut: type the ticker)
- Open the symbol search at the top left-hand corner to access over 100,000 global assets across equities, forex, crypto, futures, and more.
- You can find them by their ticker (e.g., type RELIANCE for Reliance Industries) or by their description names (e.g., type the name Central to find CENTRALBK stock).
It’s also possible to find your favorite symbols with partial searches, that is, to write part of the ticker or description name and then select the corresponding asset in the search results. If you want to filter by asset type, you can select one of the following: Stocks, Funds, Futures, Forex, Crypto, Indices, Bonds and Economy (economic indicators).
⦿ Time Intervals (Keyboard shortcut: press ,)
- Select the time interval for the chart. For instance, say you’re looking at a candlestick chart and you choose a daily chart. That means each trading day will be represented by 1 candle.
- The most common time intervals are: 1m, 5m, 30m (intraday setups) 1h, 4h (swing trading setups) and 1D, 1W and 1M (long-term trading setups).
- Traders can create custom intervals as well by clicking on the Time Interval arrow and then selecting the specific parameters needed. Don’t forget to add it to your favorites if you want it to be featured in the Quick Access toolbar.
⦿ Chart types
- We have more than 15 chart types available to analyze all price movements, including the new HLC area, Line with markers and Step line.
- Most traders prefer to use Bars, Candles and Area charts, but everyone has a different approach to markets. Be sure to find the chart type that fits your style.
⦿ Indicators, Strategies, and Metrics (Keyboard shortcut: press /)
- Indicators, Strategies, and Metrics are designed to provide additional insight and information that may otherwise be difficult to see.
- We have over 200 technical and financial indicators while also supporting over 100,000 custom scripts coded by our community. The best way to get started here is to start exploring the Indicators, Strategies, and Metrics menu as soon as possible.
⦿ Indicator Templates
Here, you can save your custom indicator setups so that you can load them at any point in time. This tool is essential if you utilize different forms of analysis. For example, if you chart technicals and fundamentals, you can make two separate templates that can be loaded at any point depending on your need.
⦿ Alert (Keyboard shortcut: Alt + A)
Alerts are used to create custom price alerts. Instead of watching markets 24/7, go ahead and create an alert at a precise level and then wait for that alert to trigger. Let our alerts do the heavy lifting. They’re always watching markets for you.
It is also possible to configure them different notifications so that you can be alerted through email, our free app or with a webhook.
⦿ Bar Replay
Bar Replay is a powerful, yet simple tool for backtesting. All experience levels can use Bar Replay for backtesting, practicing or learning about price history. To get started, click the Bar Replay button and then select a historical moment to rewind the chart backward to that point in time. Then, you can press play or pause, and retrade that moment to see how your strategy performs.
⦿ Undo/Redo Scroll (Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + Z / Ctrl + Y)
Any changes made to the charts such as drawings or indicators can be deleted or recreated. This works just like a Word document you might create on Microsoft or Google. Use the keyboard shortcuts to quickly undo or redo specific actions.
⦿ Multi-chart Layout
If you have an Essential, Plus, Premium, or Ultimate plan, you can analyze multiple charts on your screen at the same time. Simply choose one of the available layouts from the menu to get started. You can also synchronize symbols, intervals, crosshairs, time and data ranges with the selected layout.
⦿ Manage Layouts
Create, rename and load all the layouts that you save. You can also share your layout and enable the autosave option, which is very handy so that all of your work is saved automatically. Managing your layouts is an essential part of your analytical process because it enables multiple different chart layouts to be accessed as quickly and easily as possible.
⦿ Quick Search
Need to find a function or tool on your chart? Open and use Quick Search to do that. The name of the tool is just as it can be used: quickly search for the things you need to edit, add or remove on your chart, and do it in a flash.
⦿ Chart Settings
This is where you can customize all of the fine details about your chart. The Chart Settings menu has everything from the chart color, to the gridlines and labels, the text of the scales, and more.
⦿ Fullscreen Mode (Shift + F)
When this is enabled, you will see only the chart. To exit Full screen mode, click ‘Esc’.
⦿ Snapshot and Publish
Here you can download your charts as images, copy links, share tweets, publish ideas, create live streaming video content, and comment on assets with our latest feature Minds. If you want to share your expert analysis or get feedback from others, you’ll surely want to learn how these social tools work. Go ahead and give it a try - join our community of traders.
Thanks for reading and we hope this post helps all traders and investors. Whether you’re an experienced professional or someone just getting started, we plan to create more guides like this to ensure you know how to maximize the features on our platform.
Next week, we’ll share part two of this series, and cover the drawing tools menu on the left-side of the chart.

Bearish Engulfing Pattern...For the bearish engulfing pattern, there are 3 criteria:
1. Market has to be an in an uptrend. The VRL price was in an uptrend until it reached its high and then the bearish engulfing pattern formed.
2. The second body of the pattern must engulf the prior real body. Here, both the engulfing patterns marked in the chart, display these characteristics.
3. The second body of the pattern must be the opposite color of the first body.
Perfect example of DOUBLE BOTTOM With DIVERGENCENSE:VOLTAS
Double bottom is always a perfect pattern for LONG ENTRY.
But I prefer to add some more factors which increases my probability to achieve the target.
In this analysis tutorial, we will learn that.
* After falling wedge pattern breakdown Stock momentum is exhaust near a good Support.
- Never Entered in ONE SIDED BREAKDOWN or BREAKOUT. Wait for the Next GOOD SUPPORT - RESISTANCE, Because one sided move Creates a Doubt( maybe its a TRAP for a RETAIL TRADER like us).
- ONE SIDED BO-BD can be a FAKE BO-BD ( In Mostly cases )
- And incase, If it's not a Fakeout - Fakedown, But a genuine one and we missed that - DON'T PANIC - Never entered in FOMO because this can spoil our RR.
- THIS STRATEGY IS A SOLUTION FOR ALL THE ABOVE SITUATIONS.
* And at that support( IN BIGGER TIME FRAME) I Found BULLISH DIVERGENCE.
- Divergence is basically a manipulation by a big players.
- In Bullish divergence with the help of some OSCILATTORS we see PRICE IS DECREASING but AVERAGE PRICE or STRENGTH or VOLUME is INCREASING. - {Opposite in BEARISH DIVERGENCE}
- But if there is not any SUPPORT - RESISTANCE - - - - - IGNORE THAT AND NEVER ENTER.
- Because WE FOLLOW ONLY&ONLY PRICE ACTION, Indicators is secondary.
- And basic principle of PRICE ACTION is - NEVER ENTERD WITHOUT A SUPPORT RESTISTANCE ZONE OR TRENDLINE SUPPPORT OR ZONE.
* When this stock Follows all rules of BULLISH DIVERGENCE I took a LONG ENTRY.
- COMMENT if you wants to know all the RULES of DIVERGENCE.
* Now chart pattern shows a signal of UPSIDE MOVE and our Divergence setup gives us a confirmation of that SO I ENTERED and ACHIEVED THE TARGET
I hope this is helpful for beginners and a good revision for a pro players.
DIVYA BIHARI DAS this side.
THANKYOU SO MUCH.

How To Read Neowave Charts by Neowave ForecastHello Traders and Investors
My Name is Manish Singh and i am an expert in Neowave. In this chart i have describe the coding method to read my charts.
In Neowave Charts Degree labels used as intermediate, primary and cycle degree which is hard to understand by new user. Actually they understand 1 to 5 labels but they dont get the quiet idea in one look in which trend is this count is given. Thats why i came up with something simpler. So i am publishing this in the hope they everyone new trader easily understand the chart that it is in corection or in motive wave and for what time frame.
As they follow my charts, than with time they will understand which degree takes how much amount of time approximately to complete its structure and it surely does in learning the neowave.
Anyway friend kindly tell how you like the idea of this kind of coding.
I am also puting some examples of chart here.
1) This is the chart of nifty in which long term wave is in correction and you can judge with the help of medium wave degree that where is long term wave correction can end or actually new trend is going to start now or it become a failure. you can judge the chart pattern with is also as you can see this is an flat structure.
2) This is another chart of USD/JPY
In this chart i have used the old style of coding so that you can compare which one is easier to understand trend. As you can clearly understand with the help of count that it is going up but you were unable to catch that in which degree it is up or how long it will sustain there. Is there much bigger degree from the current one i am seeing.
How to Trade an ASCENDING TRIANGLE BREAKOUTSTRUCTURE
--> ASCENDING TRIANGLE is a type of consolidation pattern formed after an Uptrend ( Markup Phase).
--> ASCENDING TRIANGLE is a triangular pattern with a flat horizontal Resistance on the top and a Trendline that connects atleast two Higher Low swings from the bottom to the top of the Triangle.
--> ASCENDING TRIANGLE is considered to be a Bullish Pattern because the Swing Lows are getting shifted Higher signifiying the Sellers loosing the strength .
LOGICAL REASON BEHIND THE PATTERN
--> As the ASCENDING TRIANGLE is having the flat horizontal Resistance on the top , There are stack of STOP-LOSS-ORDERS just above the horizontal Resistance. When some Strong Buyer punches a heavy buying order, The order Triggers all the STOP-LOSS-ORDERS which were placed above the horizontal Resistance turning the sellers as buyers.
--> Seeing the Breakout various New Traders and Algo's place more buying orders and the price tend to move higher.
Example
--> Take the example of the crypto GMTUSDT .
--> Initially the crypto was in the Mark-Up phase.
--> Later this crypto entered into the Consolidation phase by making ASCENDING TRIANGLE as the consolidation pattern.
--> $0.82 was the horizontal resistance established by this stock.
--> The Lows started shifting up from $0.5 to $0.7 to $0.75 showing loss in seller strength .
--> The Price started sustaining above the POC (Point of Control) showing buyers strength.
--> When Price Breached $0.82 all SL orders were Trigerred and the crypto gave the breakout with volume .
--> The price moved higher as new Traders and Algo's placed more buying orders .
Target and Stoploss
--> Target would be the Depth of the Ascending Triangle, Projected above the Resistance Breakout as mentioned in the Example Screenshot.
--> Stoploss would be placed below the Breakout Candle LOW .
HOW TO AVOID FAKEOUTS AND PROTECT YOUR CAPITALTaking A Right Breakout Trade Can Be Really Benifical, But What If It Is A Fake Breakout , Than It Will Be A Real Pain ....
There Is No Way One Can Completely Avoid All The False Breakout , But It Is Possible To Avoid Most Of Them With Certain Strategies ,Which We Are Going To Talk About In This Post .
.
So, Lets See How To Not Trade A Breakout And Avoid Fake Breakouts...
.
.
.
Types Of Breakout :-
Trendline Breakouts
Pattern Breakouts (Parallel Channel ,Triangle.....)
All Time High Breakouts
Support And Resistance Breakout
These Are The Basic Types Of Breakouts That Are Majorily Traded Around The World .So We Will Countine Our Discussion Taking Above Types Into Consideration .
Breakout :- When The Price Of A Particular Stocks Closes Above A Price Zone (Support & Resistance ) Which Is Previously Tested By The Stocks Many Times .
Fake-Breakout :-When The Price Of A Particular Stocks Fails To Sustain Its Position Above The Support Or Resistance Level And A End Up With A Reversal .A False Breakout Happens When There Are Not Enough Buyers To Continue The Trend In Breakout Direction.

Look For These Things To Make Your Breakout Successful
Candlestick Pattern
Volume
RSI
Indices
Support And Resistance
.
.
.
Candle Stick
Assuming that you already know about the bacis of candle , look if there is bullish or bearish candles at the time of breakout .
.
.
Rsi
check the levels of rsi , check wheather if it is in the overbought(>80) region or oversold(<20) region . RSI below 40 a good for breakout , and above 70 is unhealthy for a breakout . Also check for the divergence RSI indicating .
.
.
.
Volume
Look for volume buildup at the time of breakout
Indices
You Can Also Look For Nifty Or Bank Nifty Index Or Particular Sectoral Index
Like If You Are Planning To Take A Breakout Trade In Hdfc Than Look At The Charts Of Banknifty Also , Like If It Bullish Or Not , If It Bearish Than Dont Take Trade With Your Full Capital Instead Trade With 50% And Add Another 50% At The Of Retest Or Look For Pullback At Lower Timeframe , Assuming All Above Factors Candlestick, Rsi, Volume Are Favouring The Breakout .
Support And Resistance
Instead of drawing a suppport and resistance a single flat line always draw a price zone indicating support and resistance zone covering the shadows of the candle
You Can Also Use Ema And Couple It With The Above Factor To Add A Extra Confidence To Your Analysis
.
.
Some Other Key Factors ...
1)Market Will Give You Infinte Oppourtunities So Dont Take Trade Based On Emotions .
2)Dont Enter A Trade If Your Price Is Already Went High .
3)If Price Is Moving Rapidly In One Direction And Then Breakout Happens Than Wait For A Reversal And If The Price Consolidate On Lower Time Frame Berfore The Breakout And Then Gives A Breakout There Are Less Chances That It Will Retest The Breakout Levels So Enter As Soon As You Got The Opppourtunity
4) Last but not least never stop learning and keep grinding
HOPE YOU HAVE ENJOYED THE POST , WISH YOU A HAPPY TRADING JOURNEY AHEAD
How to search for stocks at 200EMA?One of Trading Views' strongest feature is its screener. Probably the best some of us have gotten used to so far. This is a small tutorial /writeup to help you search for stocks probably sitting at support.
Remember, for certain stocks their area of value is 20EMA, while for some it’s 50EMA and for others it could also be 100EMA, so on and so forth. Basically, once you understand how this works, you can choose to tweak the values presented here to your liking.
Having said this, let's figure out how to search for stocks that are on or have fallen to 200EMA. You can always choose a different value according to your search needs. For this tutorial we will stick to finding stocks at 200EMA.
But before we move forward, let's get a basic understanding of what we are trying achieve. In a day/week/month/quarter a stock will always make a high and a low and the price will always fluctuate between this range or it will make a new day’s high or a new day’s low.
The example below is a visual representation of a very basic candle or price movement within a range. I am sure you all know this but I am trying to make this as simple as possible for everyone to follow. So, all you need to take away from this is, there is a high, there is a low, and there is a body that represents opening price and closing price. Some candles will not have a body but I do not want to dive into the details of candlesticks. Google is your best friend to know more on candlesticks!
What we are trying to do here is to restrict the search query from giving us stocks/scripts that are above 100EMA. Yes, you got it right. We are going to restrict the highs from going above the 100EMA and restrict the lows from going below the 200EMA.
Without wasting more time, here is how you do it.
Head over to Screeners and select ‘Stock Screener’
You should be on Trading Views default ‘Stock Screener’ page with a default set of filters. This screen displays stocks based on the filter you have selected. The Trading View screener always defaults back to the last used filter.
Now, let’s tweak TVs search filter. Click on ‘Filters’. This will open up the Screener settings menu.
In the search bar, type ‘High’. ‘High’ represents the highest value the stock reached in a single day. You should see 2 drop down options. For the first, choose ‘Below’ and for the second, choose ‘Exponential Moving Average (100)’
Go back to the search box and type ‘Low’. ‘Low' represents the lowest value the stock reached in a single day. You should again see 2 drop down options. For the first, choose, ‘Above’ and for the second, choose ‘Exponential Moving Average (200)’
Now, this part is important to get consistent search results. What happens with only the above search query is that you get a very convoluted or mixed search result where the EMAs get intertwined. Adding this section helps prevent the EMAs and overall search result from being all over the place.
Head back to the search box and type ‘Exponential’. What you need to edit is 100EMA. From the first drop-down choose ‘Above’ and for the second choose ‘Low’ or you could also choose ‘Exponential Moving Average 200’. This setting remains mostly constant even if you edit the above search parameters.
Close your ‘Filters’ settings menu and click the drop-down menu beside 'Filters' to ‘Save’ your newly created filter. Select ‘Save Screens As…’, give your new search filter a name and you should be done.
Viola! Your new search filter is ready to be used.
However, if your search result is huge (it should be), you can tweak it a little further to reduce the total number stocks returned by the filter. Here is what you need to do.
Head back to the filter menu and type 'Last'. ‘Last’ represents the closing price of the stock. From the first drop down option choose 'Between' and enter your desired range in the 2 boxes. Here you are defining the price range of stocks that are within the value of 100 and 800. So, TV will only display stocks that fall in between this range.
In addition to all this, you can limit your search to only one Exchange. Which is either the 'BSE' or the 'NSE' exchange instead of both.
To do this, type 'Exchange' in the filter search menu and choose either one.
Psst: Don't forget to save your filter each time you edit else TV will not save your edits!
Hope you found this helpful and I sincerely hope you find a ton of good stocks to invest in!
Happy Trading!
Flag Pattern Identification | Moving Average | Entry Guessing chart patterns in Higher timeframes & then moving gradually to lower timeframes for Confirmation & Entry points.
Technical Indicators which I am using here is Moving average.
1. First looking at the weekly and daily timeframe, I confirmed that stock is trading above the Moving average. Also, there is an impulsive buying followed by some correction. This hinted towards a FLAG PATTERN.
2. To confirm the flag pattern and specifically the entry point, which will be candles breaking out the Moving Average line, I analyzed 4H and 1H timeframes.
3. Once I see a candle breakout at the Moving average line in an uptrend during a correction phase, I place my entry for BUYING.
** Setup stop loss and Target as per your own trading style**
Parallel Channel- A great tool for Identifying Trends
A parallel channel which can also be termed as a price channel is a tool to identify a share’s price in bounded parallel lines. It can be horizontal, ascending or descending. It’s a great tool for those traders who believe or trades with the idea of Price action.
A parallel channel can be formed when the price of a security is restricted by supply and demand and can be upward, downward or sideways trending. It shows the trend on which the security might be headed towards or on the verge of breaking it to reverse its direction. It can occur on various time frames and can be created on various instruments like stock, mutual funds, ETFs etc.
The two parallel lines act just like the Resistance and Support. The upper line acts like the Resistance and the lower line acts like Support. A lower trendline is when the price pivots higher, and an upper trendline when the price pivots lower. The steepness of the parallel lines decides the direction of the price it moves.
Ascending channel will be bounded by positive lines indicating that the price is trending higher with each closing of the bar. Likewise, a breakdown of the lower line means that price has moved significantly and now it will see some profit booking and makes a good opportunity for profit booking.
Descending channel indicates that price is trending lower with each bar it is forming. Whereas a breakout of the upper channel conveys that the trend has changed and now the price will move upwards.
As in this example of Axis Bank Daily chart, you could see a Descending Parallel channel which did retrace to its lower price channel and that makes it a good entry point after which it broke the upper channel with good volume confirming its upwards rally.
Know When To Stop Trading !!!!🎯When to Stop Trading?
We have spoken up to now about when to stop trading on a particular day. However, it is important to know if you should stop trading altogether – in other words, quit. It is not simple to find the right time to quit because often people quit when the going gets tough, but this may be just before success arrives. However, there are times when quitting is important:
--You can’t see any possible positive outcome for a trading
--You constantly feel overwhelmed and negative about your trading
--Trading takes preference over your health or your family
--Your financial situation is negatively impacted by your trading so that your family is suffering or your mental health is impacted.
These are all red flags. At a minimum, take a break from trading in order to rest, relax and recharge. Save up some trading capital, assess your goals and reflect on your failures and successes. Use this to formulate a new trading strategy, while working on your perspective and objectivity. You may then be ready to try again. The markets are certainly not going anywhere if you need a break and quitting does not need to be forever.
How to trade based on Zones? This is an example of how I mark my charts while taking trades.
Defensive trading strategies are very good for sideways markets. The indices around the world are sideways and not making any fresh highs or lows.
The principle that I have explained on the charts is ideal for protecting your capital and has a higher chance of succeeding. When the price moves to either of the extremes, you should look at taking a trade on the opposite side.
This means that once the price approaches the higher boundary, you should be looking at selling and when the price approaches the lower boundary, you should look at buying.
This does not mean that you blindly set that marked price as the entry point, but you should wait for an extreme to be created and then take a trade only after the confirmation of your bias. Trading such markets requires patience and entries should only be made on the boundaries. If you enter a trade in any direction in the middle of the zone, you are likely to get trapped. What I mean by trapped is that your stop loss will become larger and probabilities are starting to move against you.
Trade only with capital you are willing to lose and maintain proper money management.
Feel free to ask questions, if you have any! :)
Intraday Triangle Breakout on BankNiftyExample of a bullish symmetric triangle breakout on BankNifty as observed on the 15 min charts.
As the price moves between the converging trendlines, the point closest to the tip of the triangle, presents a good entry point to go long. The stop loss for the trade was the previous swing low and the target was the day's high. Giving a good 80-90 point profit, with a risk of only 30 points. 3:1 RR ratio.
