HOW THE HARMONIC PATTERNS HELP IN OPTION TRADING AND VOLATILITYThe underlying chart gives us the data but it is important to look into the options chart for the trade.
We normally wait for the breakouts to happen in the underlying chart but they happen way ahead in the options chart. By the time we take a trade in the options, it would have been late in options pricing.
Below is the bank nifty options chart
You can see that the breakouts are happening in both charts.
Normally, the terminal bar price for a XACBD bearish butterfly pattern will be at the 1.618 fib ratio. However, for the shorts who enter at this level, the stop loss will be the next fib ratio i.e., 2 in this case.
Shorts who entered at 1.618 would have exited in a loss at 2 level, then the price reversed drastically. The long traders who thought there would be a short-covering are trapped mercilessly.
This pattern would have benefitted the traders who entered at point B (164.5) and trailed until 1.618 level ( D=197). The price pushed above until 2 (212) but hasn't closed above it and came down quickly. This trade would have given at least 20% for the longs.
What I've learned from the harmonics in the volatile and fast-moving scripts is that always mark stop-loss levels also and wait for the price action to proceed.
This post is just to show the importance of harmonics in options trading and for educational purposes. Give a like and leave a comment if this helps you.
Happy trading :)
Butterfly
TATA CHEMICALSIt has entered into the PRZ of a Bearish Harmonic Butterfly suggesting a pullback/reversal in daily time frame till 340/335. View would negate above 370
Harmonic Butterfly Patterns usually indicate pullbacks of the larger trend (in this case the same being up) not major reversals. Such patterns are usually associated with breakout patterns and respective pullbacks.
THE BUTTERFLY PATTERNFor a brief overview about harmonic pattern fundamentals, first go to the Post 1 of this series (link will be soon in the update section).
THE BUTTERFLY PATTERN
The pattern is recognized by the exclusive 78.6% of XA retracement at point B; and the 1.27 XA projection at point D.
X-A: A strong leg which ends at an important Support/Resistance level.
A-B: Should retrace precisely 78.6% of X-A.
B-C: Should retrace between 38.2 to 88.6 % of A-B. This leg should not extend beyond point A.
C-D: The most important leg to confirm the butterfly pattern . C-D should extend 127% of X-A and not more than that.
C-D=A-B or C-D=1.27 A-B : Another important confirmation, C-D leg should complete between 1 to 1.27 times A-B
B-C Projection: Point D should be at 1.618 to 2.24 B-C projection.
Pattern completes at point D so it is the most important point in the pattern. If all the above conditions are valid, a reversal is expected from this point.
# In Bullish harmonic patterns an upward reversal is expected at point D, whereas in Bearish patterns a downward reversal is expected at point
D.
# Normally a buy/sell order is placed at point D, expecting some sort of reversal, and targets are placed at 38.2% and 61.8% of A-X.
# A complete reversal should not be expected at point D in any harmonic pattern . Only the further price can provide confirmations about trend
reversal.

Educational 11: Elliott Waves + Butterfly Pattern Confluence In the above chart, I have showcased a confluence or relationship between Elliott Waves and Harmonic Patterns. Where I have mentioned and pointed out time where they confluence and provide us a successful trading opportunities. Such confluence is simple to understand and provide a great reward over risk by initiating in them.
I have attested below edcuational chart of Butterfly Pattern and also a confluence between Elliott Waves and Head n Shoulder pattern for further reference.
I would appreciate your comments, charts and opinion on the same.
