Sensex Extends Losses for 3rd Session

The BSE Sensex fell 228.2 points or less than 0.4% to near one-week low of 59,877.3 in early trade on Thursday, extending losses from the two prior sessions, as investors cautiously await a U.S.

inflation data due later today that could throw light on investor expectations for further Federal Reserve interest-rate hikes.

In China, officials data showed the country's producer prices fell 0.7% yoy in December 2022, worse than market forecasts of a 0.1% drop, while inflation accelerated to 1.8%.

Traders also concerned about rising oil prices which is going to be a negative for India.

Almost all sectors traded in the red, led by banking sectors, healthcare, and financial services.

Divi's Laboratories shed 2.9%, followed by Axis Bank (-2.0%), Kotak Bank (-1.5%), and Reliance (-1.3%).

Market participants now await India's December inflation figures and industrial production later in the day..
