India Equities Trade Slightly Lower

The BSE Sensex fell 47.7 points or 0.1% to 60,024.6 in early trade on Thursday, down for the first time in three sessions.

The index tracked a decline in broader markets in Asia after the negative lead from Wall Street overnight as investors digested weakening economic data and slew of fresh earnings result.Traders were also nervous after a hawkish comment from Federal Reserve officials and mentioned its commitment to raise rate above 5% to get inflation target of 2%.

In China, PBOC is expected to keep steady its key rates for corporate and household loans each at 3.65% and 4.3% Friday.

Traders also continued to follow the news of Covid cases in China ahead of Lunar New Year, after abandoning its zero-Covid policy.

Almost all of the 15 sectors moved lower, dragged down by media stocks, consumer durables, realty, metals, and auto stocks.

Among early losers were Adani Enterprises (-3.7%), Titan Company(-1.3%), Hindustan Unilever (-1.1%), Adani Ports (-1.0%), and Tata Motors (-0.9%).
