Dubai Electricity & Water Authority engages in the supply of water and electricity services. It operates through the following segments: DEWA, EMPOWER, IPP, and Others. The DEWA segment deals with the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity; and water desalination, transmission and distribution to residential, commercial, industrial, and government customers. The EMPOWER segment provides district cooling, maintenance of central cooling plants, and manufacturing and sale of insulated pipes. The IPP segment offers a range of services for the development, operation, and maintenance of power and water plants under the independent power producer model. The Others segment consists of other operations of the group including purification and sale of potable water, providing services including information technology, and infrastructure, networking, and computer system housing services. The company was founded on January 1, 1992 and is headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
