I was listening to an AMA yesterday from a rather popular, no-BS, trading educator whom I will not cite because of Tradingview House Rules...
He spoke about "unconsciously incompetent" ideas that new retail traders have. One of which is that they chase momentum. They think that because something is UP a lot it is that much better of an investment. This is a "mind virus" that afflicts failing traders.
