ALUM utilizes a proprietary methodology to invest in aluminum-based derivative instruments. The fund may invest in derivatives traded on US and non-US exchanges. Although the fund primarily holds aluminum futures, it may also invest in cash-settled options, forwards, options on futures and other options. ALUM obtains its exposure by utilizing a wholly owned Cayman Islands subsidiary, thus avoiding issuing a K-1 form to investors. The actively managed fund may hold cash, cash equivalents, or investment grade fixed-income securities to collateralize its derivative investments.
