It operates through following segments: Eco Solutions; Hand Protection; Purification; Textiles, Construction Materials, Plantation; Agriculture; Consumer & Retail, Leisure; Industry Inputs, Power and Energy; Transportation and Logistics; and Others. The Eco Solutions segment engages in the manufacture and export of value-added coconut fiber products. The Hand Protection segment manufactures protective hand-wear including natural and synthetic-latex based household and industrial gloves. The Purification segment produces coconut-shell based activated carbons. The Textiles segment provides high-end fabric to global fashion brands. The Construction Materials segment includes aluminum extrusions for the residential and industrial sectors. The Plantation segment refers to the tea and rubber production. The Agriculture segment pertains to the agriculture related solutions to the retail and export markets. The Consumer & Retail segment comprises of consumer durables market. The Leisure segment owns and operates resort properties in Sri Lanka and Maldives through the Amaya Resorts chain and the five-star city hotel, The Kingsbury in Colombo. The Industry Inputs, Power and Energy segment supplies renewable energy. The Transportation and Logistics segment offers transportation related services including freight management, integrated logistics, terminals and logistics services, marine services, and international operations. The Others segment consists of business process outsourcing operations, projects, aviation and travels, construction sector investments, and group services. The company was founded by Charles Pickering Hayley in 1878 and is headquartered in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
