Double Bottom & Double Top Patterns and How To Trade Them👋 Hello Trading community and my friends so today i came here with an educational post hope you like my work mates, In technical analysis quite often we hear about Double bottom and Double top patterns so today i am sharing that in very simple and easy to understand way. Although a lot can be understood from the idea's image alone but for those who are new to technical analysis i am explaining them by the description below.
⚪ Double bottom pattern-:
It is a bullish reversal pattern that typically occurs at the end of a downtrend. It consists of two distinct lows at approximately the same price level, separated by a peak in between. Here's how you can identify and trade on a double bottom pattern:
⭐️Identify the Pattern- Look for two consecutive troughs (low points) in the price chart, with a peak (high point) in between. The lows should be roughly at the same price level, forming a "W" shape.
⭐️Confirmation- After identifying the double bottom pattern, it's important to wait for confirmation before entering a trade. Confirmation can come in the form of a breakout above the peak that separates the two lows. This breakout should ideally be accompanied by an increase in trading volume, signaling strong buying interest.
⭐️Entry- Once you have confirmation of the pattern, you can enter a long (buy) position. Some traders prefer to enter immediately after the breakout above the peak, while others wait for a pullback to the breakout level before entering to improve risk-reward ratios.
⭐️Stop Loss- So there are no particular definition of stop loss after the activation of trade because it totally depends on a trader's setup some takes below resistance close or trigger basis and some can take below the recent swing low and maybe there are some more ways too.
⭐️Target- Determine a target price based on the height of the pattern. Measure the distance between the lowest point of the double bottom and the peak, and then add this distance to the breakout level. This gives you a potential target for your trade.
⚪ The double pattern-:
it is another common technical analysis pattern observed in financial markets, often signaling a potential reversal of an uptrend. The double top pattern typically occurs after an extended uptrend in the price of an asset.
⭐️Identify the Pattern- It consists of two consecutive peaks (or tops) at approximately the same price level, separated by a trough (or valley) in between. The peaks resemble the letter "M" on the price chart.
⭐️Confirmation- Traders typically look for confirmation signals to validate the pattern, such as a break below the trough between the two tops, increased volume during the breakdown, or other technical indicators like bearish divergence on oscillators such as the RSI or MACD.
⭐️Entry- Enter a short trade after confirmation, preferably when the price breaks below the trough between the two tops. Some traders may wait for a pullback to the breakdown level before entering to improve risk-reward ratios.
⭐️Stop Loss- So as i said above for the double bottom stop loss now telling the same for it too that it depends on trader to trader setup that some can take stop loss above resistance on closure or trigger basis and some can take above recent swing high likewise.
⭐️Target- Set a target for your trade based on the height of the pattern, which is the distance between the peak and the trough. Additionally, consider other support levels or Fibonacci retracement levels as potential targets.
⭐️Remember that no trading strategy is foolproof, and it's essential to combine the Double bottom & Double top patterns with other forms of analysis for better accuracy and risk management.
⭐️Risk Management- Always manage your risk by sizing your position appropriately and setting stop-loss orders. Additionally, consider the overall market conditions and use other technical indicators to confirm your trade decision. As always, combining technical analysis with proper risk management and market understanding is crucial for successful trading.
⭐️Exit- Exit the trade when your target is reached, or if the price shows signs of reversing. Pay attention to other technical indicators or chart patterns that may suggest a change in market sentiment.
My Setup-: So after the confirmation usually i take retest entries to minimize my risk for these type of trades and somehow retests gives me more confirmations too of the strength of breakout, And one more thing i use and that is RSI indicator with default settings for these type of trades provided by Trading View so thank you very much to them. Stop loss i take on closing basis above or below on support and resistance. This is educational post so no logic to update this idea but still then if i will get any good example i will provide that via update. Thanks for reading and giving your valuable time.
Best Regards- Amit

Mastering the Double Bottom Chart PatternA double bottom, combined with RSI divergence, can be a powerful signal for a trend reversal.
What's a Double Bottom ?
It's when a stock's price forms two distinct lows on a chart.
The pattern is confirmed when prices rise above the peak between those two lows.
Why Does It Matter?
The double bottom marks the end of a downtrend and the start of an uptrend.
It's one of the most common patterns, but it needs careful analysis.
Adding RSI Divergence:
RSI measures a stock's strength and momentum.
Look for RSI to form higher lows while the price forms lower lows. This is RSI divergence and a strong bullish signal.
Key Points to Remember
Downtrend First: The pattern begins in a downtrend.
Time Gap: The longer the time between the two lows, the stronger the reversal signal.
Price Increase: Look for a significant price increase between the two lows (around 10-20%).
Volume Matters: Usually, volume is higher during the first low and increases as the pattern confirms.
Breakout Confirmation: Don't act until prices break above the confirmation point.
Pullback After Breakout: Expect a pullback after the breakout; it's normal.
Trading the Double Bottom with RSI Divergence:
Calculate a target price by adding the pattern's height to the breakout point.
Confirm the pattern only after prices break through the confirmation point.
Be patient; not all patterns are double bottoms.
Watch for volume during the pattern's development.
Pay attention to RSI divergence for added confirmation.
Remember: Wait for confirmation, and don't rush into trades based solely on patterns. It's wise to use multiple indicators, including RSI, and keep an eye on market conditions.

dual top pattern explained in simple form The dual top pattern is a popular technical analysis pattern that can signal a potential trend reversal. This pattern is formed when the price of an asset reaches a resistance level twice and fails to break above it. The two peaks of the pattern look like two mountain tops that are approximately equal in height, with a dip or valley in between them. The neckline of the pattern is drawn by connecting the lows between the two peaks. A breakdown below the neckline is considered a sell signal, as it suggests that the price is likely to continue to decline.
The dual top pattern is an important tool for traders because it can help to identify potential trend reversals. However, it's important to confirm the pattern with other indicators and analysis before making trading decisions. For example, traders might look for other technical signals such as a bearish divergence or a break below a key support level to confirm the dual top pattern. Additionally, traders may use fundamental analysis to gain insight into the underlying factors that are driving the price movement of the asset.
Overall, the dual top pattern is a powerful tool for traders to identify potential trend reversals, but it's important to approach it with caution and to use other analysis techniques to confirm the signal before making trading decisions.
In the below example, a newbie too would be able to learn and practice trend reversal using double top pattern
Dual top pattern = potential trend reversal.
Look for two mountain tops with a valley in between.
The resistance level was reached twice but was not broken
Draw the neckline by connecting lows between the peaks.
A breakdown below the neckline = sell signal.
Remember, the dual top pattern can be a powerful tool for traders to identify potential trend reversals, but it's important to confirm with other indicators and analysis before making trading decisions.
Learn Bullish technical analysis pattern called DOUBLE BOTTOM The double bottom pattern is a bullish reversal pattern that occurs after a downtrend.
It consists of two consecutive troughs of roughly equal price, with a peak in between.
The pattern is confirmed when the price breaks above the peak with higher-than-average trading volume.
Traders use the pattern to project a target price for the breakout.
Traders may enter long positions in anticipation of the breakout.
The pattern should be used with other indicators and analysis to confirm its validity.
123 Reversal Bearish Pattern TradingSetup
The 123-chart pattern is a three-wave formation, where every move reaches a pivot point. This is where the name of the pattern comes from, the 1-2-3 pivot points.
The structure of 123 chart pattern
The pattern appears after three price movements, which form three pivot points and a confirmation level.
Pivot point 1.
This is a turning point that the price formed during the trend. If a price breaks the previous trendline after it formed pivot point 1, the pattern will be more reliable.
Pivot point 2.
The next turning point is very likely to form outside of the previous trendline or channel. This is a good indication that the trend might be ready to end and reverse.
Pivot point 3.
Pivot point 3 is crucial for 123 reversal chart patterns. The point must not exceed the pivot point 1 (in the worst case it might be on the same level) for the pattern to be valid.
Confirmation level
The confirmation level is our entry point in the market. It is located at the same level as pivot point 2. When price breaks through this level open the trade.
Target level
To set the target trader needs to connect 1 and 3 pivot points with a line. The size of your 123 pattern equals the vertical distance between Line 2 (which is a horizontal line at the level of 2 pivot point) and the midpoint of Line 1.
123 chart pattern stop loss setup
It is highly important to use stop loss when trading the 123 chart pattern. The stop loss should be set under pivot point 3 in the bullish trend reversal, and above in the bearish one. In the condition of high market volatility, the price might get pushed beyond the 2 pivot point for a while. That’s why it will be a good idea to set stop-loss slightly beyond the 3 pivot point, as this will prevent stop loss from being activated.
123 Reversal Pattern Trading23 reversal setup is a basic on-chart formation, that warns about upcoming trend reversal.
Setup
The 123-chart pattern is a three-wave formation, where every move reaches a pivot point. This is where the name of the pattern comes from, the 1-2-3 pivot points.
123 pattern works in both directions. In the first case, a bullish trend turns into a bearish one. And the second picture presents the opposite, a bearish trend turns into a bullish one.

That’s why it will be a good idea to set stop-loss slightly beyond the 3 pivot point, as this will prevent stop loss from being activated.
The target level of 123 continuation pattern
The target of the “continuation 123 pattern” measures the same way as usual. The only exception is that in this case, you should take pivot point 3 as a starting one of your target.
DOUBLE TOP TUTORIALEducation
Double Top chart pattern
A double top chart is a classic bullish reversal, which signals end for bullish rally.
This chart pattern help traders to exist their trades if they go long on certain instrument and get prepared for selling opportunities after the break of neckline.
This chart pattern should only be considered when there's existed bullish rally on a timeframe.
And sell trades should strictly be taken only after the break of neckline.
Traders can target next demand zones and stop loss above neckline or previous resistance.
Few Most Profitable Chart Patterns1) Double Top, a Bearish reversal chart pattern
It is a trend reversal chart pattern formed after good bullish price movement (a continuous upward price movement for a good duration) where the upward price movement loses its steam (formed a first top) and it retraces a bit (to neck line or mid point).
Then again it moves in direction of original trend and reaches the first top level there by forming second top . It again cannot move above first top and start moving to neckline (NL).
Once the neck line is broken its fall in price is steep. There starts a downtrend.
Target
The Height of the tops will be taken as a target.
Stoploss
It is recommended to keep a stop loss of 1.5% above the neck line.
2)Double Bottom, a Bullish Reversal Chart pattern
It is a trend reversal chart pattern formed after good bearish price movement (a continuous downward price movement for a good duration) where the downward price movement loses its steam (formed a first bottom) and it retraces a bit (to neck line or mid point).
Then again it moves in direction of original trend and reaches the first bottom level there by forming second bottom . It again cannot move below first bottom and start moving to neckline (NL).
Once the neck line is broken its rise in price is steep. There starts an uptrend.
Target
The Height of the bottoms will be taken as a target.
Stoploss
It is recommended to keep a stop loss of 1.5% below the neck line.
3)Cup & Handle, A Bullish Continuation pattern
It is a pattern where the Price movement of a chart resembles a teacup .
It consist of two parts:
1) A cup:
A cup formation happens when the price moving in a uptrend shows a pull back followed by a consolidation period which makes the bottom of the cup and finally the reverse back to upside continuing the uptrend.
Usually the pattern looks like a 'U' to round bottom. The deeper the 'U' or round shape the reliable the pattern is.
2) A Handle :
After the formation of right highs of a round cup, there is a pull back before continuation of the trend which forms the handle of this pattern. It is formed in the right hand side of the cup.
Entry:
A Neckline breakout supported by huge volumes is the confirmation of this pattern that the previous trend has resumed. Trade should be taken only after the neckline Breakout
Target :
The height of the cup will be taken as a target.
Stoploss:
Stop loss should be placed under the handle low
Perfect example of DOUBLE BOTTOM With DIVERGENCENSE:VOLTAS
Double bottom is always a perfect pattern for LONG ENTRY.
But I prefer to add some more factors which increases my probability to achieve the target.
In this analysis tutorial, we will learn that.
* After falling wedge pattern breakdown Stock momentum is exhaust near a good Support.
- Never Entered in ONE SIDED BREAKDOWN or BREAKOUT. Wait for the Next GOOD SUPPORT - RESISTANCE, Because one sided move Creates a Doubt( maybe its a TRAP for a RETAIL TRADER like us).
- ONE SIDED BO-BD can be a FAKE BO-BD ( In Mostly cases )
- And incase, If it's not a Fakeout - Fakedown, But a genuine one and we missed that - DON'T PANIC - Never entered in FOMO because this can spoil our RR.
- THIS STRATEGY IS A SOLUTION FOR ALL THE ABOVE SITUATIONS.
* And at that support( IN BIGGER TIME FRAME) I Found BULLISH DIVERGENCE.
- Divergence is basically a manipulation by a big players.
- In Bullish divergence with the help of some OSCILATTORS we see PRICE IS DECREASING but AVERAGE PRICE or STRENGTH or VOLUME is INCREASING. - {Opposite in BEARISH DIVERGENCE}
- But if there is not any SUPPORT - RESISTANCE - - - - - IGNORE THAT AND NEVER ENTER.
- Because WE FOLLOW ONLY&ONLY PRICE ACTION, Indicators is secondary.
- And basic principle of PRICE ACTION is - NEVER ENTERD WITHOUT A SUPPORT RESTISTANCE ZONE OR TRENDLINE SUPPPORT OR ZONE.
* When this stock Follows all rules of BULLISH DIVERGENCE I took a LONG ENTRY.
- COMMENT if you wants to know all the RULES of DIVERGENCE.
* Now chart pattern shows a signal of UPSIDE MOVE and our Divergence setup gives us a confirmation of that SO I ENTERED and ACHIEVED THE TARGET
I hope this is helpful for beginners and a good revision for a pro players.

How Double Bottom Pattern looks likeWhat is double bottom pattern?
A double bottom pattern is a technical analysis charting pattern that describes a change in trend and a momentum reversal from prior leading price action. It describes the drop of a stock or index, a rebound, another drop to the same or similar level as the original drop, and finally another rebound.
How do you trade double bottom patterns?
First low – The market bounces higher and forms a swing low. At this point, it’s likely a entrancement in a downtrend.
Second low – The market rejects the previous swing low. Now, there’s buying pressure, but it’s too early to tell if the market could continue higher.
Break of neckline – The price broke above the Neckline (or Resistance) and it signals the buyers are in control — the market is likely to move higher.
----------------------------------
The False Break : How to trade the Double Bottom Pattern and profit from “trapped” traders
Now…
When you trade the Double Bottom, you must pay attention to the time and space between the lows — the larger the “gap”, the better.
Why?
Because when the lows are far apart, it gets the attention of more traders who could push the price higher.
As the price breaks below the first low, bearish traders will short the markets and have their stops above the lows.
But if the price quickly reverses higher, the short traders are “trapped”.
And you can take advantage of it by going long, anticipating if the price moves higher, it’ll trigger their stops and push the market in your favour.
__________
The Double Bottom Breakout Technique
Here’s the thing:
You don’t want to “chase” a breakout after the Double Bottom is formed because the price is likely to reverse lower.
Instead, you want to see strength from the buyers before buying a breakout.
Here’s how…
1) Identify a potential Double Bottom
2) Let the price to trade break above the previous swing high
3) Wait for a weak pullback to form (a series of small range candles)
4) Buy on the break of the swing high
'CONTINUE' trading with 'CONTINUATION' pattern_2nd Edition_!!!In previous idea of continuation pattern, which comprise explanation of some continuation patterns like triangles, flags and pennants it
was stated that in next post I'll be back with patterns such as head & shoulder , double top and bottoms and we're back.
As we have discussed in the previous section, that market can be either in trending phase or in a range-bound
phase. No trend generally lasts forever in the market. After prolonged or medium or shorter duration up and
downtrend, the market often reverses and a move starts in the opposite direction of the prior move. Often we
find that well defined geometrical patterns are formed in the chart which provides good indication of price
reversals. These patterns are called reversal classical chart patterns. When they are formed as a bullish reversal
pattern they are said to be part of accumulation. On the other hand if they are formed at the top of a price
move just before bearish reversal, then they are part of distribution.
However, a geometrically shaped consolidation does not necessarily mean price reversal. Often price resumes
the erstwhile trend post the consolidation move. These are called continuation classical chart pattern. We will
discuss about few of the classical chart patterns in the following section.
-> Head & Shoulder -:
Head and Shoulder pattern is a bearish reversal pattern. This pattern appears after an uptrend. This pattern is
formed with three consecutive tops with middle one being higher than the other two. The middle top is called
the head and the two side peaks are called the shoulders. On joining the intermediate troughs, we get the
neck-line. On ultimate break below the neckline, usually a short trade is taken with a stop-loss above the top
of the nearest shoulder. The target is usually considered as the distance between the neckline and head,
projected from the point of break. If the volume in the down leg of the right shoulder is on the higher side and
break happens with high volume, the conviction is on the higher side for the reversal.
An Inverse Head and Shoulder is just mirror image of the Head and Shoulder pattern. This should appear
after a sustained down trend, the rule of stop loss and target are similar. This often acts as a very effective
bullish reversal pattern.
-> Double Tops and Bottoms -:
These chart patterns are well-known patterns that signal a trend reversal – these are considered to be one of
the most reliable patterns and are commonly used. These patterns are formed after a sustained trend and
signal to chartists that the trend is about to reverse. These patterns are created when price movement tests
support or resistance levels twice and is unable to break through. These patterns are often used to signal
intermediate and long-term trend reversals.
Double top:
Double bottom:
-> Mechanism of Continuation Pattern -:
Continuation patterns provide some logic to the price action. By knowing the patterns, a trader can create a trading plan to take advantage of common patterns. The patterns present trading opportunities that may not be seen using other methods.
Unfortunately, simply because the pattern is called a "continuation pattern" does not mean it is always reliable. A pattern may appear during a trend, but a trend reversal may still occur. It is also quite possible that, once we have drawn the pattern on our charts, the bounds may be slightly penetrated, but a full breakout does not occur. This is called a false breakout and could occur multiple times before the pattern is actually broken and a continuation or a reversal occurs. Rectangles, due to their popularity and easy visibility, are highly susceptible to false breakouts.
Patterns can also be subjective, as what one trader sees is not what another trader sees, or how another trader would draw or define the pattern in real time. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as it can provide traders with a unique perspective on the market. It will require time and practice for the trader to develop his or her skill in finding patterns, drawing them and formulating a plan on how to use them.
My Observation -: These geometrical patterns are formed after a trend in that particular stock, it generally resumes the previous trend after being out of the pattern but some times it reverses the previous trend hence, it is advised to wait for the conformation to play the pattern.
And we can use RSI for conformation i.e. if you are seeing pattern breakout then just check if RSI is greater than 60 and if not than the chances of fakeout is more also in case of breakdown just check if RSI is below 40 else it can reverse.

What Is a Triple Top?
The triple top is a type of chart pattern used in technical analysis to predict the reversal in the movement of an asset's price. Consisting of three peaks, a triple top signals that the asset may no longer be rallying, and that lower prices may be on the way.
Triple tops may occur on all time frames, but in order for the pattern to be considered a triple top, it must occur after an uptrend. However, the opposite of a triple is a triple bottom, which indicates the asset's price is no longer falling and could head higher.

Double Bottom- Full ExplanationA Double Bottom is considered a bullish signal, indicating a possible reversal of the current downtrend to a new uptrend. Sometimes called an "W" formation because of the pattern it creates on the chart, the Double Bottom is one of the most frequently seen and common of the patterns.
The Double Bottom is a reversal pattern of an downtrend trend in a financial instrument's price. The Double Bottom marks an downtrend in the process of becoming a uptrend.
A Double Bottom consists of two well-defined, sharp bottoms at approximately the same price level. The two bottoms are distinct and sharp . The pattern is complete when prices rise above the highest high in the formation. The highest high is called the "confirmation point".
The bullish momentum may be evidenced through a higher bottom on an oscillator like RSI . Though not required, the market may break below the first low, even if briefly. A slight and temporary break below the first bottom is preferred as it may excite the bears only to reverse and trend higher. The neckline is formed between the price low of the valley between the two bottoms. A break above this neckline will confirm the double bottom pattern. The bullish confirmation is specified by a break in the key price resistance level (neckline) situated at the high point between the ‘bottoms’.
Important Characteristics
Following are important characteristics for a Double Top .
Downtrend Preceding Double Top
The Double Bottom is a reversal formation. It begins with prices in an downtrend. The trend downwards should be fairly long and healthy.
Time between Bottoms
Generally, the longer the time between the two bottoms, the more important the pattern is as a good reversal signal.
Volume
Volume tends to be heaviest during the first bottom and lighter on the second. It is common to see volume pick up again at the time of breakout.
Pullback after Breakout
A pullback after the breakout is usual for a Double Bottom. The higher the volume on the breakout, the higher the likelihood is for a pullback.
Two Peaks at Different Levels
Sometimes the two comprising a Double Bottom are not at exactly the same price level. This does not necessarily render the pattern invalid.
Trading with Double Top:
There are certain rules when trading with Double Bottom chart patterns.
Firstly one should see the market phase whether it is up or down. As the double bottom is formed at the end of a downtrend , the prior trend should be an downtrend.
Traders should spot if two rounding bottoms are forming and also note the size of the bottoms.
Traders should only enter the long position when the price break out from the resistance level or the neckline.
Example:
From the below example of the 15 Min chart of BANKNIFTY we can see how bullish reversal takes places after the formation of the double bottom
Stop Loss & Target :
In the case of a Double Bottom chart pattern, the stop loss should be placed at the second bottom of the pattern and can be trailed at the pullback low as price moves higher but this will be a bit aggressive.
The price target should be equal to the distance between the neckline and the bottoms.
The False Break: How to trade the Double Bottom Pattern and profit from “trapped” traders
Now…
When you trade the Double Bottom, you must pay attention to the time and space between the lows — the larger the “gap”, the better.
Why?
Because when the lows are far apart, it gets the attention of more traders who could push the price higher.
And with this concept, you can use it to profit from “trapped” traders.
Here’s how…
The first and second lows should have time and space between them
Let the price break below the first low
Wait for a rejection of lower prices and then go long
The idea is simple.
As the price breaks below the first low, bearish traders will short the markets and have their stops above the lows.
But if the price quickly reverses higher, the short traders are “trapped”.
And you can take advantage of it by going long, anticipating if the price moves higher, it’ll trigger their stops and push the market in your favor.

Double Top - Full ExplanationA Double Top is considered a bearish signal, indicating a possible reversal of the current uptrend to a new downtrend. Sometimes called an "M" formation because of the pattern it creates on the chart, the Double Top is one of the most frequently seen and common of the patterns.
The Double Top is a reversal pattern of an upward trend in a financial instrument's price. The Double Top marks an uptrend in the process of becoming a downtrend.
A Double Top consists of two well-defined, sharp peaks at approximately the same price level. The two tops are distinct and sharp. The pattern is complete when prices decline below the lowest low in the formation. The lowest low is called the "confirmation point".
The slowing momentum may be evidenced through a lagging peak on an oscillator like RSI. Though not required, the market may break above the first peak, even if briefly. A slight and temporary break above the first peak is preferred as it may excite the bulls only to reverse and trend lower. The neckline is formed between the price low of the valley between the two peaks. A break below this neckline will confirm the double top pattern. The bearish confirmation is specified by a break in the key price support level (neckline) situated at the low point between the ‘tops’.
Important Characteristics
Following are important characteristics for a Double Top.
Uptrend Preceding Double Top
The Double Top is a reversal formation. It begins with prices in an uptrend. The trend upwards should be fairly long and healthy.
Time between Tops
Generally, the longer the time between the two tops, the more important the pattern is as a good reversal signal.
Decline from First Top
The deeper the trough between the two tops, the better the performance of the pattern.
Volume
Volume tends to be heaviest during the first peak and lighter on the second. It is common to see volume pick up again at the time of breakout.
Pullback after Breakout
A pullback after the breakout is usual for a Double Top. The higher the volume on the breakout, the higher the likelihood is for a pullback.
Two Peaks at Different Levels
Sometimes the two peaks comprising a Double Top are not at exactly the same price level. This does not necessarily render the pattern invalid. Some analysts point out that investors should be less concerned if the second peak does not hit the high of the first peak.
Trading with Double Top:
There are certain rules when trading with Double Top chart patterns.
Firstly one should see the market phase whether it is up or down. As the double top is formed at the end of an uptrend, the prior trend should be an uptrend.
Traders should spot if two rounding tops are forming and also note the size of the tops.
Traders should only enter the short position when the price break out from the support level or the neckline.
Example:
From the below example of the 15 Min chart of NIFTY we can see how bearish reversal takes places after the formation of the double
Stop Loss & Target :
In the case of a Double Top chart pattern, the stop loss should be placed at the second top of the pattern and can be trailed at the pullback high as price moves lower but this will be a bit aggressive.
The price target should be equal to the distance between the neckline and the tops.

Indicator Free Analysis using Simple Price Action - A Case StudyThis is the monthly chart of BATA India. In this we can see that there was a bull run from December 2016 to March 2020. It came down slowly to form a falling wedge pattern and also a double bottom pattern from Mar 2020 to June 2021. It gave a good breakout of the falling wedge or flag pattern in July 2021 and the momentum continued.
Here we have not used any indicators and are simply following price action. According to the price action, a big resistance is at 1800 levels where the stock may halt before giving breakout.
How to trade the stock?
1. After getting a confirmation that the stock has broken out of a bullish flag pattern, we could have taken a trade at 1600 levels with a SL of 1200 and a target of 2200-2400
2. At present too, we can buy the stock between the levels of 1700-1800 with the same SL of 1200 and a target of 2400.
How was the target calculated?
The total distance covered by from the highest point of the flag ( approx rs 1800) to the lowest point of the flag (approx Rs 1200) should be calculated i.e. Rs 600. Now on giving breakout, the stock should ideally move Rs 600 from the highest point of the flag (Rs 1800). Thus the long term target comes out to be Rs 2400. However it is just a prediction. So one should give or take a standard +/- 5% deviation from the predicted target.
PS - This stock has been chosen for only an ideal case study. This is not a recommendation. The stock may or may not perform as predicted or described.
