VIX Range Levels (Rule of 16)VIX Range Levels — Rule of 16 What this indicator does- This indicator uses India VIX (or any VIX-class index) to plot statistically derived expected move levels for the current trading day directly on your price chart. It draws six price levels — at 1×, 1.5×, and 2× standard deviations above and below the prior session's close — with colour-coded fills between each band. The Rule of 16 — explained: VIX is quoted as an annualized implied volatility, expressed as a percentage. To translate that annual figure into a single day's expected price range, we divide by the square root of the number of trading days in a year: Daily Expected Move (%) = VIX ÷ √252 ≈ VIX ÷ 16 √252 ≈ 15.87, which practitioners conventionally round to 16 — hence the name. Worked example: If INDIAVIX closes at 14.40: Daily Move = 14.40 ÷ 16 = 0.90% On a Nifty level of 22,000, that is ±198 points for the 1σ (sigma) band. Statistical interpretation of the bands- The Rule of 16 assumes log-normal returns and uses a one standard deviation (1σ) framework: Band Multiplier Probability price stays inside Inner (solid lines)1×~68%Middle (dashed)1.5×~87%Outer (dashed)2×~95% In plain English: on any given day, price should stay within the solid lines roughly 7 out of 10 sessions, within the dashed 1.5× lines about 9 out of 10 sessions, and within the outer 2× lines about 19 out of 20 sessions — assuming markets are pricing volatility fairly. On high-VIX days, ranges will be wide; on low-VIX days, they will be narrow. How to identify potential Tops and Bottoms: The bands are not just risk levels — they are mean-reversion anchors. Here is how experienced traders use them: 🔴 Potential Top signals- Price tags or exceeds the 1× upper level (solid red line) on the first push of the day — especially in the opening hour. A clean touch with a rejection candle (spinning top, doji, shooting star) at this level is a high-probability fade setup. Price reaches the 1.5× upper level intraday. Statistically, this is an outlier move. Look for volume exhaustion, a lower-high on a smaller timeframe, or a bearish divergence on RSI/MACD to confirm a reversal. Price closes above the 2× upper level. This is a rare ~5% event. It signals either a genuine breakout (news-driven) or an extreme overextension due for a sharp snapback the following session. 🟢 Potential Bottom signals- Price dips to the 1× lower level (solid green line) and holds — particularly if the broader market trend is up. A bullish engulfing or hammer candle at this level, especially on above-average volume, is a classic intraday reversal signal. Price hits the 1.5× lower level with declining sell-side momentum. Watch for positive divergence on shorter timeframes or a sudden spike in buying volume as confirmation. Price closes below the 2× lower level. Similar to the upper equivalent — either a true breakdown or an exhaustion move. Gap-up opens the following session from this zone are historically common. Full Description Fear The Walking Markets is a multi-layer market regime indicator designed to show how fear propagates across different asset groups and how that pressure interacts with the local direction of the chart being traded. The script is built around two distinct engines. The first engine is a cross-asset fear model that monitors term-structure stress, tail-risk proxies, cross-asset contagion, and breadth across a configurable basket that can include VIX-family indexes, CBOE:VVIX VVIX, CBOE:SKEW SKEW, TVC:MOVE MOVE, CBOE:VXTLT VXTLT, commodity volatility indexes, crypto volatility indexes, and custom symbols. These inputs are aggregated into meta-lanes such as Front Stress , Curve Stress , Contagion Pressure , Tail Pressure , Breadth , and a final Composite regime score . The second engine is a signed directional model. Instead of assuming that fear always maps to the same price response, the script estimates local pressure using configurable combinations of Price , OBV , and CVD , then optionally fuses that local direction with the broader cross-asset regime. This separation is the central idea of the script, because market fear and local trade direction are related but they are not the same thing. What makes the script original is the way it combines adaptive asset profiling across Index/Equity, Crypto, Commodity, Forex, Rates, and Mixed contexts with a cross-asset fear heatmap, automatic lane repacking, a signed directional engine based on Price , OBV , and CVD combinations, overlay pressure zones and curves on the main chart, reversal-risk rails, and a compact résumé table that explains which components are contributing to the current regime and direction. What makes it useful is that it answers two questions at the same time: how stressed the market environment is, and whether that stress is aligned with the local direction of the chart or whether reversal risk is building. The script is intended for context, filtering, and confirmation. It is especially useful when a trader wants to avoid reading a local move in isolation and instead frame it inside a broader cross-market risk picture. It supports both Adaptive and Manual symbol selection. In Adaptive mode, it attempts to profile the current market context and choose a more relevant cross-asset basket automatically. In Manual mode every lane can be curated directly. For higher-timeframe data, the script includes Confirmed HTF and Live HTF modes. Confirmed HTF uses confirmed higher-timeframe context, while Live HTF is more reactive and can change until the higher-timeframe bar closes. The overlay is designed to show directional pressure zones on price, box and tint context for bullish or bearish pressure, entry arrows on the first bar of a new active pressure zone, and optional reversal-risk rails that help identify when the active pressure is weakening or being challenged. This is not a prediction engine. It is a structured framework for reading fear intensity, cross-market confirmation, local directional pressure, and reversal risk in one place. How to Use The cleanest way to start is with Universe mode = Adaptive and Asset profile override = Auto , because this lets the script classify the market context before you fine-tune anything. After that, Confirmed HTF is the better choice when a stable higher-timeframe regime view is more important than immediacy, while Live HTF is preferable when you want the higher-timeframe pressure to react sooner even if it is less stable. The heatmap should be read from top to bottom. Composite, Breadth, and the meta-lanes define the global regime, while the raw lanes explain where the pressure is coming from. The résumé table then clarifies which drivers are active, whether they are strengthening or fading, and how they contribute to the gate and directional state. The local direction source should be chosen according to the instrument. Price plus OBV plus CVD is the broad default , Price plus CVD is often the most informative option on crypto, Price plus OBV can be useful on forex or CFDs, and Price alone is a sensible fallback when volume quality is poor or synthetic. The Regime Fusion setting then decides how much the macro regime should influence direction. None means the script behaves as a local directional engine only, Bias Only means the macro regime dominates, Confirm means local direction is filtered through regime confirmation, and Blend gives a balanced interaction between the two. The overlay should be interpreted as context rather than as a mechanical trigger. A bearish zone supported by rising Contagion and Breadth suggests aligned downside pressure. A bullish zone that appears while Breadth is weak and reversal-risk rails are active deserves more caution. A pressure flip with weak regime support is generally less reliable than a flip that occurs with Composite and cross-asset breadth moving in the same direction. For the publication screenshot, the chart should remain visually clean. This script should be visible, unrelated indicators should be hidden, both the heatmap and the overlay should be readable, and the résumé table should remain legible. A simple example on an equity index is a situation where Composite, Contagion, and Tail are rising while the overlay is bearish. In that case, the script is describing a risk-off environment aligned with local downside pressure. In forex, if the macro fear regime is elevated but local Price/OBV/CVD direction turns bullish and reversal-risk rails appear inside a bearish pressure box, the script is flagging that macro stress may still be present while local price action is trying to reject that pressure. In crypto, if DVOL and ETHDVOL heat up together and the local direction remains bearish, the script is describing fear and local direction moving together. If local direction flips while crypto-vol lanes remain hot, the move is more likely to be a fragile rebound than a clean regime reset. This indicator depends on the availability and quality of external symbols. Some feeds, aliases, broker mappings, or timeframes can return na , especially on exotic CFD feeds or when a symbol does not support the requested resolution. Adaptive market profiling is heuristic. It is built to be useful, not perfect, and some symbols, especially broker-specific CFDs , may need Manual universe selection or an explicit Asset Profile Override . OBV and CVD are also context-dependent. On instruments with synthetic, missing, or broker-specific volume, these components act as proxies rather than as authoritative flow measures. Complacency zones often show up near better long-term reduce / take-profit areas (or at least be careful with fresh risk here). This is not magic and it’s not a buy/sell button. Markets can stay fearful or complacent longer than you expect. But as a long-term investor , this helps you stop chasing hype and start scaling decisions around emotion extremes. NQ Implied Range GovernorThis Pine Script v6 indicator, “NQ Implied Range (VIX ÷ √N) Governor”, builds a real-time implied range framework for Nasdaq futures by importing a volatility index (default CBOE:VXN) on a user-selected timeframe and smoothing it with an EMA. It converts the annualized vol reading into a daily 1σ percentage move via oneSigmaPct = (VIX ÷ √252)/100, then maps that into a point-based implied move from a session “anchor” price. The anchor is locked at RTH session start (0930–1600 ET by default) based on your chosen mode (RTH Open, prior bar close, or daily open). A band mode selector controls how sigma is interpreted: an “Intraday Range” mode uses √(2/π) (~0.798) as a proxy for expected max excursion, while close-to-close modes use ±1σ or ±2σ envelopes; a separate calibration multiplier lets you widen/tighten the bands beyond theory. Once the implied move is computed, the script plots the upper/lower 1.0 bands, the anchor midline, and optional fills above/below the anchor. It then derives symmetric Fibonacci retracement levels between the anchor and each band (.236, .382, .500, .618, .786) and optional extensions (1.272, 1.618), with right-edge price labels for quick reading. Contango/Backwardation Monitor This is an indicator to display the spread difference between two products. I designed it around VX1! and VX2! but any other two products can be chosen. It is a simple subtraction of VX2-VX1. I will go through the options first and what they do followed by what contango/backwardation is in my own words. You will need the data package for VX futures for the default version to work. INPUTS -Apply Smoothing: choose to apply smoothing or not. -Smoothing Method: choose between SMA,EMA,WMA, etc. -Line Width: Width of line if line is chosen style(can be changed in style section) -Threshold 1-5: This is the level at which the line will change colors(defaults are for VX) -Color 1-5: The color the line will change to when crossing threshold. Towards Backwardation: Background color change when line is slanted down Towards Contango: Background color change when line is slanted up Bars to Confirm Trend: This is my method to cut down on background color changes. It is how many bars consecutive going back needed to change color. STYLE -All colors and whatnot can be changed here(threshold colors can be changed here or on the input page). T1 Line-T5 line: These are simple horizontal lines that can be used to denote threshold areas or whatever you want. Contango/Backwardation-These terms are used mostly with futures to define the calendar spread between two contracts. Contango is when that spread is is getting longer and backwardation is when that spread is closing. In terms of VIX futures, Contango would imply that volatility is stabilizing and the S and P will likely gain. Backwardation, woudl eb the opposite. The most simple way to read this indicator with default settings- If the line is up, red, and the background is red, then you can assume S and P prices are going down.
