Cencosud SA engages in the operation of hypermarkets. It operates through the following segments: Supermarkets, Department Stores, Home Improvement Stores, Shopping Centers, and Financial Services. The Supermarkets segment operates under the Jumbo, Santa Isabel and SPID supermarket brands, which sells a variety of name brand and private label products. The Home Improvements Stores segment provides construction materials, design and decoration products. The Department Stores segment focuses on apparel, technology, and home goods. The Shopping Centers segment engages in the development and management of real estate assets. The Financial Services segment provides issuance of credit cards and insurance to drive consumption in its stores. The company was founded by Horst Paulmann Kemna in 1960 and is headquartered in Las Condes, Chile.
